WotL OOC Thread III

This 2E Dragonlance game is set in the city of Haven, during the War of the Lance. Haven is a city undergoing great upheaval. First massive numbers of refugees pour in, then the city is conquered by a draconic army. Can our heroes survive under this dark occupation?

Nah, Gold team will be formed soon.

Part of this trip is to avoid encounters with the Heroes.

I don't wanna get involved with that, I'll go read.

So, can I do a read check even without prof? 3 or less.

The Heroes of the Lance, currently, are in the dwarf lands to the south, so you should be okay.

Yeah, to read a couple of words. Like a sign, or maybe pick out a few key words from a note. Not for reading an entire book, though.

I still have my fingers crossed for the bards miraculous escape :)

Would one float while swimming in lava?

Hey, I saved the bard from certain death once already... Arulia, I think it's your turn ;)

Lava would still be so dense it'd probably be like trying to walk on thick mud... but not being able to breathe the toxic ash would cut the trip real short...

Doubtful. It's a trick not a magic ability. It doesn't prevent my need for oxygen... now if I had the right ioun stone...

Is there a holding breath proficiency?

EDIT:

Well.... Could we just pull off an elaborate show, get the permits, and get out before they realize that the sword can't actually light itself on fire.

Also, what is the [5] and [10] behind my weapon damage for?

EDIT 2:
djhyland wrote:Arulia takes William's hand in her own and shakes it. "William... My...my name is Arulia," she says, flustered. "But...but you knew that already, I suppose. It's very nice to meet you, too."

Turning to her father, she blushes again. "It's...it's going fine, Father," she stammers. "And you look a lot better. Father, this is William. William, this is my father."

After introducing the two, Arulia chews nervously at her lower lip. "Father, I've finished repairing William's shield," she begins. "And...um...William is...is new to town, and he...uh...he asked me to show him to the High Hand. He's going to stay at the High Hand. Would you...would you mind if I showed him the way?"

Someone's in love?

No. Holding one's breath is a matter of Constitution, not any sort of talent. There is a spell that lets one breathe underwater, though.
chese780 wrote:Well.... Could we just pull off an elaborate show, get the permits, and get out before they realize that the sword can't actually light itself on fire.
Heh. I suppose it's a matter of how dumb the person you're bribing is and how elaborate the show is.

Weapon speeds. Some weapons are faster or slower than others. You add that number to your initiative when you are using that weapon. Fast weapons like daggers [2] or short swords [3] have fast weapon speeds while larger weapons like long swords [5] or great swords [10] have much slower speeds.

Ahhh... Well... Is there anything that would allow someone to breathe in a toxic environment? (Ash/Sulfur/Volcanoism)

And, all these questions arise because sometimes I get bored waiting for replies. Not saying you all need to post more, I just need to find more things to do.

And I did. I'm making photoshop art of my character. Gonna be great :D

Yeah, there's a spell...I can't remember right now what it is called or where it is found, but I remember a spell that creates a filter around you, keeps out poison gases and such. Actually, now that I think about it, I think it's called "Filter."

Jaded is correct, there is a Lvl 2 arcane spell called "Filter" and is in Complete wizard, Chapter 8: New spells

There is an ioun stone (iridescent spindle) that sustains a person without air... that would likely be much harder to acquire than a spell.

Maybe, but Arulia's really bad at lying, so she's just trying to act "natural".
