Artanis Auir

Artanis agrees on the price for the short sword and pays the man for the silvered longsword, minus the 5 gp for trading in his shortsword. He checks the balance of the sword with his off hand and will commence getting used to the additional weight and length. (He is not swinging it around inside the shop though!)

He makes some small talk with Mira by nervously asking: "So is there...um...much demand in the small town of Harmonia for...um...one of your profession?"

"Well yes, I mean look around, these people love what I do. It like I'm part of the culture." He gives him a little smile. "Nice sword. Bit heavy for my tastes." She eyes the weapon.

"Useful? At distracting Kenders yes! What else could they be useful for? I mean could we use other previous metals also? I would love to have a full array of coloured bullets! And you guys and your silver swords! Why not gold! Gold just speaks of your status!"

Artanis' eyes briefly widen in surprise by Mira's reply. He nervously shifts his feet and continues: "Um...well that is certainly...um...an interesting culture they must have...um...here in Harmonia to...well...um...is the pay good?"

He also replies to Pyros: "There are some creatures that can only be hit with silvered or enchanted weapons. Gold or platinum would not affect them like silver or enchanted weapons do."

"That's a better way to put it, thank you Artanis." Ruffling Pyros's hair she returns her attention to Artanis. "Pay well? Not for one offs, but I was really lucky that Guilliam gave me a regular spot, I'm actually performing tonight." She gives a smile of pride. "His wife is watching too."

Artanis's eyes nearly bug out of his head at Mira's remarks regarding pay. He clears his throat several times while looking at the ground, trying to collect his thoughts. This conversation certainly has not turned out as he planned. "Um...well...so Gulliam is a regular customer...and...um...his wife...um...well...watches? How...well...um...how difficult is it to...um...perform for Gulliam with his wife...um...present and watching?" Artanis' face is about as red as his hair is right now.

Yasir listens to the dialogue between Artanis and Mira with little interest. Finally commenting in support of Miras playing, he will speak animatedly despite only having heard her play once. "Indeed! Pyros, Elsa and myself caught her performance when we first arrived, Guilliam is very lucky to have her there." Yasir moves close to Mira, wrapping an arm around her waist and smiling at her. "I don't think it will be long before the entire town is singing your praises. People will be coming from far and away just to listen!"

"Thank you Yasir. Everyone seems to enjoy my music. I'm really loving being popular for a change, back on Krynn Bards like myself were in short supply.. But we are poorly paid." She looks at the Ranger with some concern. "Why would it be difficult, singing and playing for her? Its just as difficult as for anyone else. Actually I'm hoping she enjoys my music, it might be a way to get us to Skald."

"I'm performing at the inn tonight actually. Are there any songs from your homeland you might know?" She adds nothing a hint of pride in Yasirs voice.

Artanis is REALLY confused now. He thinks to himself: Something is amiss here. What's with all this talk of singing, music and performances? And people watching? And BARDS? I mean, I've heard people describe that as making beautiful music together, but no one ever called themselves bards. Should have kept your mouth shut, Artanis. Now the chickens have come home to roost. Stay focused on fishing.

"Um, I'm not very...um...musically inclined...so I don't know many songs. But...um...thanks for asking. I best step outside and...um...practice with this new weapon." Smiling sheepishly, Artanis tries his best to extract himself from the conversation and go back outside.

Artanis, Elsa, Mira, Pyros, Yasir: Blacksmith Shop
The young apprentice digs under the table and lays out several items, a few of which are silver, the rest seem quite old but serviceable. This is all. he responds. Elsa looks to the Kender and smiles. I think this is all he had time to make... Tell you what, since you paid my way at the Crystal Club yesterday, I'll give you half. she grins from ear-to-ear recalling the night bedore and hands him 6 silver sling stones.

Artanis, a trifle confused and embarrassed by the way the conversation has turned steps out for a breath of air. He takes a few practice swipes with his new weapon as a guard comes around the bend in The Loop several yards ahead...
