Baeros picks up the planetar, finding her surprisingly light, and joins the others as they head to the vault. They all go inside, save Ouragana who remains at the entrance. The room is illuminated by magical light and is full of all sorts of treasure and wonder. In the very center of the room is a large icosahedron, glowing slightly with blue light. In the northwestern corner are five treasure chests, all open and spilling out with coins and gems. In the northeastern corner is a cabinet of the finest make. In the southeastern corner is a large cannon. And in the southwestern corner is a cage where Hopper sits. He jumps around, barking, but no sound emerges from the cage--he's completely silent.

Val walks up to the cannon and touches it. The hairs on her arm stand up as she can feel the power surging through the weapon. It is very old, to be certain. The wooden wheels underneath have started to rot away. But the actual cannon itself is still intact. There are multiple glowing runes engraved upon it, shimmering with magical power. Although no expert on such things, Val can tell this item is clearly Eonian in origin. It's difficult to imagine a world where such devices were commonplace, and yet such a world did exist only a few centuries ago.

The imp, Kaakos, suddenly pops out of the cannon's mouth and looks around. "Oh, hey, you're still alive. And youse got the planetar, too. So I take it the kyton is kaput?" He dusts himself off. "Yeah, that's the anchor," he says, pointing to the glowing icosahdron. "Just gotta disable it and I can finally go home. Well, what are youse waiting for?"

Jocelyn walks up to the icosahedron in the middle of the room, and starts praying to dispel magic.

Baeros runs to Hopper, still carrying the planetar. As he arrives few feet from him he slows down and cautiously tries to reach to the cave and open it.

Baeros approaches the cage, still carrying the unconscious planetar. Strangely, the cage has no gate or any opening at all. It appears to be designed so that the occupant cannot be released. When he touches it, a painful jolt goes through his body. Hopper tries to blink, but every time he just reappears back in the cage.

Jocelyn looks over the anchor, glowing with power. It's clearly Eonian magic in origin. "Well, let's destroy it," Brock says, lifting his axe. Thaddeus quickly stops him. "Ah, there's a good chance it is protected, like the cage. We would need to disable it first."

Thaddeus nods to Jocelyn, who begins to pray over the device. Blue circles of power form around the device, vibrating with energy. The circles then shatter, and the entire device powers down, turning grey.

"Quickly, now," Thaddeus urges. Brock lifts his axe overhead and brings it down on the device, cracking it open like an egg. He then strikes again and again, until there's no chance it will power back up once the spell ends.

Hopper immediately blinks out of the cage and appears by Baeros' side, yipping happily again.

"Magical teleportation should be possible again now," Thaddeus remarks.

"Hot damn!" Kaakos says, snapping his fingers. "Thanks a lot. Hey, if you're ever in the Hells, look me up." Laughing, he then opens a portal and flies through it, disappearing. The portal closes behind him.

Jocelyn casts Dispel Magic on the dimensional anchor [TN 17] (1d20): 19, success.

"All right," Jocelyn says. "We should probably get this stuff out of here, and then get out of here ourselves."

"Yeah, the question is what stuff" Val begins to look in the cabinets to see what is there.

Baeros, still carrying the planetar, kneel down and pet Hopper. "I was so worried! I'm so happy you are OK!" and he hugs him with his free hand. Then he stands up and asks Jocelyn, "What will we do with that?" he points to the planetar on his shoulder.

Val goes to the cabinet and opens it up. Inside are four items of note. The first is a two handed great sword. It hums with some kind of power, practically vibrating. The other is a trident made of some unknown, green material. The third is a small ring, gold, with runes of power engraved around it. The fourth is a leather-bound tome with a golden wyvern engraved on the cover.

Meanwhile, Brock checks out the chests. The first two chests are full of platinum coins. The next two are filled with gold coins. The last is filled with a variety of gemstones and jewels. "By the gods," the dwarf mutters. "It's a dragon's horde in here. There's enough coin to buy a small island, at least!"

As Baeros asks his question, rudely referring to the planetar as 'that,' she begins to stir in his arms. Her wounds are still healing and her wings have not grown back yet, but she seems to be regaining consciousness.

(OOC: The chests contain 10 gemstones, 6,000 GP and 9,000 PP. Not including the gemstones, as their value is unknown--you'll need to appraise them first--the coins total a value of 47,000 GP.)

"Err... Jocelyn... she is waking up. Can you verify her sanity?" Baeros asks as he move the planetar from his shoulder and carry her in his arms. "Hello?" he asks it.

"Put her down, gently," Jocelyn says to Baeros as she approaches the two of them. Once the plantar is on the ground, Jocelyn kneels down next to her. "You're safe now," she says gently.

As intrigued as she is with the trident, Val cannot help but reach for the sword first. Picking it up she turns toward the party and stares at the blade, testing it's weight and balance. "What have we got here" she says out loud.

Baeros puts the planetar down, supporting her in a sitting position, but also ready to tighten his supportive hold on her arms and shoulders should she show any threatening move towards Jocelyn... or the others.

=======================================================
(OOC: I don't roleplay Hopper but I believe he would feel the planetar physical distress and Baeros & Jocelyn concern and will come to comfort the planetar.)

Once the planetar is laid down, Ouragana begins to approach her, but seeing Jocelyn, the better healer, with her, she turns away and towards the cabinet. Her eyes brighten when she sees the tome. "Look, Thaddeus, that must be a treasure trove for you and me!" she points out. Then she approaches the cabinet to take the book down.

Val picks up the two-handed sword and finds that both its balance and weight are awful. It's horribly unwieldy and heavy. It would be impossible for her to even try and use this thing in battle, even with the proper training. It's not clear what it is made from--the blade is pure white, so it doesn't appear to be made from steel.

Ouragana picks up the book. Despite the fact that it must be over 300 years old, it feels and even smells like its brand new.

The planetar opens her eyes, which have no irises at all, but are entirely blue. "Safe?" she repeats. "Unhand me, mortal." She sits up easily, regardless of any attempt Baeros makes to hold her--despite her injuries, she is considerably stronger than him. Indeed, the ranger gets the distinct impression she is far more powerful than even the kyton was, and if she does turn against them, there is nothing he could do about it.

She looks around the room. "And I no longer sense the kyton...or the imp." She casts some kind of spell, and all of her injuries immediately heal and her wings grow back fully. "The dampening field has been disabled. I can return home," she observes. "And I suppose I have you mortals to thank for that. But you did not come here for me...you could not have known I was trapped here. What, then, is your purpose here?"

==========

Planetar casts Heal on herself. All of her injuries are instantly healed.

(OOC: The sword requires a STR of 19 to wield properly.)

Baeros quickly takes a stand to protect Jocelyn. "Hmm.. we came here for that cannon." he points at it. "Are you all right? The little devil said you might have lost your mind being tortured for so many decades. Where is your home?"
