Chapter 4: Meeting at The Safehaven Inn

[TristenC]

I'm sure she'll be back soon, he says when Arnora casts her gaze at the door. How did you two meet, anyway? It seems like that would be a good story. he asks, trying to distract the girl a bit.

[Jenara]

"I.." Arnora starts to say unsure where to begin. "She helped rescue me, well her cat found me and made me feel safe." She answers after a few moments. "That's all I really remember, it wasn't till the next morning till she introduced herself. You think j the way I am with her is strange don't you?"

"He's just jealous." A voice behind him says with a giggle, "That was interesting, most interesting." Navi slides back into her chair, adjusting her outfit she covers the flesh that appears to be accidental on show. Her pale skin is lightly flushed and her hair sits slightly to one side. "How is the meal?" She asks with a wink.

"Mercair was just asking me how we met?" She explains pulling up against Navi once more.

[TristenC]

Not strange... but rare. Her cat, hmm... a familiar? I can tell that you two share a close bond. It's a good thing. he smiles at her, reassuringly.

At Navi's interjection he turns, hiding a small smile at her appearance. A person would have to be blind not to have seen the way she had acted around the waitress... Sune indeed... You were absolutely right... this food is some of the best I've ever had! His pause and a grin made the first half of his comment ambiguous enough that it could easily be taken as an answer for either of Navi's statements.

[Ooc: Looks like someone's been makking 'opposed grapple checks' ifyouknowwhatimean ]

[Jenara]

"I told you." She grins, "That girl has talent, I appreciate her skills." Giving him a warning glance she wraps an arm around Arnoras shoulder. "We look after each other, that is rare agreed, but.. It's nice."

Both women exchange a silent glance and Arnora adjusts Navis hair with a simple motion.

~Discretion, things are not what they seem. ~ Navis voice appears in Mercairs head.

Mercair gives no outward sign at the sudden voice, and continues to eat.

Magic eh? Mercair tries to think back to her. that is a handy tool for having a private conversation... I meant nothing untoward, I assure you. How long can you maintain this type of... mental communication? It could prove invaluable at the ball...

[Jenara]

~Ten minutes, not long but its something useful.~ she responds, grinning silently. "I am a Sorcerer, after all.." She speaks loudly, taking a sip of the wine. "Eat up, we have a job to do soon."

[TristenC]

Yes ma'am, he replies with a wink and a smirk before finishing up his meal.

[Jenara]

"Let's go do this." Navi stands offering Arnora a hand, "Give us a few minutes and then I'll come and get you." She says to Mercair, as she moves towards the counter.

"Can you do the talking?" Arnora asks as they approach the desk, Navi just nods and presents herself to the Halfling.

"Good evening, I was hoping you could help, my friend here had a room, but she was attacked. Her key stolen." Approaching him with a open smile she holds Arnora tightly. "And can I say you have a wonderful place here, your staff and most welcoming."

[mltillis]

The albino halfling looks up from his ledger and studies Navi keenly with his pink eyes. He then gives Arnora a fleeting glimpse before returning his attention to Navi. Ahh yes. One of the members of the Danicen party. I was wondering why they had not returned since acquiring their rooms. I shall have the locks changed immediately, if that is the case. Will the rest of the Danicen party be returning to their rooms today as well?

[Jenara]

"No.." Arnora starts to son, collapsing into Navi.

"Sadly the party was attacked shortly after the left you." Navi explains holding the girl closely, "Sadly the Danicens are yet to be located, Arnora was..." She pauses. "She is safe that is all that matter's. I will be taking thier property until they are located." Reaching into a pouch she flashes a signet ring and smiles. "I hope you understand." She leans in whispering to the hafling, and then moves back.

There should not be an issue with a member of their group present. Our policy however is to have all items inventoried and signed for by a responsible party. The girl does not appear to quite be of age yet. Shall you be signing madame? We are a bit busy at the moment. Someone has gotten the cook backed up in the kitchen. As soon as I can free one of the staff, I'll send them up with the key.

[Jenara]

"I will be." She replies, feeling a stab of concern, knowing she caused the delay in the kitchen. "That gentleman," she points to Mercair, "represents the Church of Lathander, perhaps he could witness the inventory, to ensure there is no issue?"

"Thank you, I appreciate your help." She smiles, "We will of course wait as long as required."

[TristenC]

Mercair watches from his table, and gives a small wave when Navi points him out.

[mltillis]

The halfling whistles and is quickly approached by one of the bouncers. After a brief conversation the bouncer departs. A few minutes later a boy speaks with the halfling, then approaches. Hello I'm Donor. I'll be letting you into your rooms.. He leads you upstairs and begins to open the first door. Do you have much to collect? Watcher wants us make a list of Aarrgh!! As Donor opens the door, a hooded figure bursts out of the room driving a dagger into the boy's abdomen. The figure leaps from the balcony crashing into a table, then bolts for the door.

[Jenara]

(Before they climb the stairs)

Navi motions to Mercair to join them as they wait for the key.

"Not much, I didn't bring much-" Arnora starts to say before she stands stock still.

"You are going to have to help him." Navi says in a quick motion, sprinting for the balcony her whole body lifts as she backflips over the rail and lands on her feet. Taking no time to rest she draws her blade in a flat run, charging for the man.. "Stop him, he attacked Donor!" She shouts chasing him at full speed.

Arnora hands shake as she leans down, her hand over the wound, trying her best to staunch the flow.
