Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
Gaheris approaches the golem and looks it over. "Hey, Mazzart. What about this guy? Can it be like...interrogated or anything? Why didn't it stop the thief that took your quill, for that matter?"
Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
Kanock reaches up to collect some porridge and bread. Hearing the Slitherkai's comment, Kanock takes and instant dislike to him and makes his way over to other other group - Stuffing a large chunk of bread into his mouth to prevent any words of his own escaping when he has to walk past the table housing the Slith and soldiers.
He waddles up and squeezes in to join the circular shape that was assembling, one arm and belly propping up the porridge, the free hand slurping his breakfast as he listens into the conversation about the missing maid.

Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
Jasmine glances over her shoulder to Alex, and flashes him one of her winning smiles. "Perhaps on a fair battlefield, you're correct. Though, how often is a battlefield really fair?" she asked curiously. She didn't really expect an answer to her question, so she turns her attention back to Ben, the dwarf that nearly ran into her earlier, and the departing Zurgo. ~He certainly is in a hurry,~ she thinks to herself. "I didn't catch your name earlier, I don't think," she says to the dwarf. "And it appears you are to join us as well, so I'm Jasmine." She leans over the table a bit to offer her hand Kanock.

Now that he has some supplies. Ishan settles in to wait for his customers.
After waiting for a while he wonders if he should look around for some information, its never bad to have some more bargaining chips when dealing with adventuring types. Thinking about this missing quill as well as current events he decides to ask around while studying his old scouting notes.
Knowledge (Local) on manticores and knowledge (local) on imperial/orcs relations.

"Mmm, no, it's Kanock." The dwarf replies, reaching up on tiptoes to shake Jasmine's fingertips and nods his acknowledgement to the others.
After another mouthful of porridge Kanock asks, "So we going to find this missing girl too?"

Gaheris (Mazzart’s room)
“In hindsight, I really should have cast some perception spells on it, but golems are, by default, pretty short sighted and dim witted. It’s incredibly useful for fetching books off the top shelf and if I were to get attacked it would pulverize the fool who tried fairly quickly, but as a sentry on patrol, a drunk child could slip by it without it noticing. That is, before I get around to upgrading it with truesight eyes and some passive detection auras, that should make it a much better guard. Though it’ll take some time which I’d rather use to try and divine the location of my quill right now!”
Zurgo and Ishan (Outside the Inn)
Zurgo races outside to check out the surrounding area. He doesn’t see any fresh horse tracks going any direction from the inn, and in fact he finds the stables fairly empty. There’s one ram in the stables, but that’s about it, not even any horses. He however does notice some indicators that someone left on foot last night headed approximately in the direction of Trevsville.
Ishan wanders around a bit, but the only person he sees outside at this hour is that half-orc he was talking to earlier. He seems preoccupied searching for something. However Ishan’s notes do provide include some useful information.
Zurgo rolls perception (survival would be better for tracking): 21
Ishan makes some knowledge checks (PM’d to him)
Jasmine, Kanock, Benjamin (Common Room)
Seeing that at least some of the group was interested in finding the maid, Ichabodd adds the rest of the details that he knows. “From the kitchen staff I hear that Sara was seen making the tea for Mazzart in the kitchen, but they haven’t seen her since then. That was a bit after midnight last night.”
Alex does respond to Jasmine’s comment, and fairly promptly. “With drow? Never. With orcs? The battlefield is almost always fair. That’s why I like the orcs, they provide a good challenge in combat without stooping to all the cowardly scare tactics of a lesser race.”
Ichabodd responds to Kanok’s question. “Well Kanok, I would be much obliged if you would help find Sara, and if she’s in danger in any way I’d imagine she would be much obliged if you looked for her as well. If she just fell asleep on the job however, she might not be so enthused to see you. I’ll also search myself, I’ll start by checking the rooms she was supposed to clean this morning. I think there were a few unoccupied rooms in the north wing…” Ichabodd turns to the other Slithzerikai in the room. “Thissa, do you mind making sure anyone else who comes seeking breakfast gets the right amount?”
The Slith girl nods her agreement and Ichabodd heads through the north door to begin his search.

Stowing that knowledge away for later, Gaheris nods absently and then wanders back out of the room to go looking for Jasmin and see if she has found any new leads yet.
Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
Finally free from his dazedness, Benji inspects the mug. He's no poisoner, but he's a drow and he's certainly had run ins with illicit substances before. He hums out another little tune to himself as he looks and thinks of anything he can think of, sniffing and inspecting the poison drips but not injesting them. (Perception and Knowledge: Poisons check)
Sort of disinterestedly, he responds to Alex, "The strongest drow is more than a match for the average orc, but there is much truth to what you say. I think you'll find everyone is underhanded, but the drow push their limits and tip everyone's hands. But then, anyone who believes in a truly fair combat is likely to be someone who fights for no cause."

Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
"Good luck with your orcs then," Jasmine states to Alex. "I'll stick with the drow," she adds before she notices Gaheris and waves him over. "Done talking to the mage?" she asks. "Apparently some maid name Sera went missing about the same time as that man's quill."
Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
Kanock nods at the information provided by Ichabodd regarding Sara, "If you check t rooms that'll give me time for breakfast and if she not here we'll go out looking for her." Referring to a frantic departure not too long ago, Kanock adds, "Think someone's gone looking for something outside all ready."
Kanock proceeds to thoroughly stuff himself with breakfast, using the porridge and bread to keep his own tongue out of this pointless slander between tables.

Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
"That was the name of the maid who serves the mage his tea," Gaheris notes, scratching at his chin. "The plot thickens. Does she live here at the inn? Can we see her room?" he asks Ichabodd.

Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
"her room sounds like a good idea," Zurgo lumbered back into the establishment, addressing Gaheris . "tracks outside, most likely hers, left last night, wheres her room?"
Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
Ichabodd Inn Common Room (Everyone except Ishan)
Alex actively ignores Benjamin’s remark, responding to Jasmine’s with a smile. “Well thank you, best of luck with your drow, the more you can eliminate the better. Just be careful and watch your back, you never know where one might turn on you.”
Gaheris catches Ichabodd just before he leaves the room to search, and the group pose some questions that the innkeeper feels it wise to answer.
“She lives in Porto Tracia, but that would be quite a commute to make every day, so she often stays overnight here. I’ve pretty much given her reign to sleep in any unoccupied room here, as long as she cleans it up again afterwards.”
“I was just about to check the rooms to the north, as those were the last ones she was supposed to clean up on her shift last night, but there’s a possibility she could be in one of the rooms in the south wing if she, for some reason, fell asleep while delivering Mazzart his tea. I find it unlikely that she would be upstairs last night, but if someone wants to check to make sure that would be good.”
During Ichabodd’s speech Zurgo enters the room once again and delivers his information.
“Her tracks outside? I don’t know why she would want to leave in the middle of a shift without checking in with me first. Perhaps I haven’t been generous enough in accommodating her? Maybe she found some star crossed lover? Oh I hope she’s fine.”

"Why do you assume that it was hers?" Jasmine asks Zurgo. "Those tracks could have belonged to anyone," she points out before she looks to Ichabodd. "How many free rooms did you have last night?" she asks.
Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
(Since talking is a free action, I don't feel badly about replying to just one person in conversation like this, does that sound ok?)
Ichabodd takes a second as he counts the rooms that are free, "ten rooms total are unoccupied, for in the north wing I'm about to check, two in the south wing near Mazzart's room, and four on the second floor. They should be open, getting a room key from me allows guests to lock their rooms."
