An Arl's Ransom

Simone reloads her crossbow and takes aim at the owl. "Davne, get out of there!"

Alenka slams the butt of her staff into the ground, and a cloud of frost and ice rises up under the owl and envelops the creature. The owl hoots in pain, its wings getting some frost crystals on them.

Trying its best to ignore the magical chill, the owl flies over to Davne and slashes at her with its talons, cutting her slightly.

Simone loads her crossbow and takes aim at the owl, shouting a warning to Davne.

Davne also reloads her crossbow, and moves over to where Alenka and Wallace are standing by the log.

Finally, Wallace fires a large bolt of energy at the owl, striking it perfectly.

Alenka fires an arcane lance at the owl, but not only does it easily dodge, it shakes off the effects of her ice spell, as well. It then flies right toward Davne and claws at her again with its talons, leaving the warrior in pretty bad shape.

Simone and Davne both fire their crossbows at the owl, but it's so nimble it swoops to avoid both bolts. Luckily, Wallace manages to nail it with an arcane lance. The blow knocks the owl to the ground momentarily and Wallace hurries closer.

Simone mumbles under her breath as she loads up her crossbow again and takes aim.

With a twirl of her staff, Alenka manages to fire two arcane lances at the owl. The first one hits for devastating effect, but the latter misses in the dark.

The Blight Owl gets to its feet and strikes at Davne again with its talons, piercing her armor and bringing the young woman down. With Davne lying on the ground, bleeding and unable to move, the owl turns its attention to the mages and rogue. "Quickly, finish it off now!" Alenka calls out.

Simone reloads her crossbow and then aims at the owl. Wallace fires another arcane lance, but it flies overhead, missing the owl entirely.
