Searching the ship

Desolate and abandoned, the evil alchemist’s mansion stands alone on the cliff, looking out towards the sea. Mysterious lights and ghostly hauntings have kept away the people of Saltmarsh, despite rumours of a fabulous forgotten treasure. What is its sinister secret?

"Not sure, exactly what species. It would appear that I have a connection with the creature." Reller muses and strokes the belly of the creature. "We shall wonder which one is the pet, later. I would bet on the cute little reptile winning that battle."

The cloth the lizard slept on turns out to be rags, old pieces of clothing torn apart to serve as the creature's nest. The chest is quite heavy, with tiron bands, and the lock turns out to be easier to pick than Kulop expected. he soon learns why, because as he opens the lid, he feels a sharp pain in his wrist, and when he pulls back the hand, he sees a needle poking out of it.

The lientwurmchen, as Vee called it, purrs contentedly at the attention it gest from the group. Suddenly, Reller feels very[/] hungry, and he gest a bit dizzy as his vision seems to double and he sees not only what he's sooking at, but also a quick scan of the ship. This secondary set of pcitures is more vivid in color than wahat he can see with his own eyes. Especially when he looks at Kulpo's injured hand, and his and the wurmchen's vision converge again, he sees something glisten that mixes with Kulop's blood dripping from the wound.

[OOC:] poison save for Kulop, please.
Like birds, the pseudodragon has receptors for near UV, and it can telepatahically transmit what it sees to the chosen companion. It chose Reller because he is the only member of the party who is of NG alignment. [/OOC]

"Outch!" Kulop shouts. "Damn lizard, if it hadn't distracted me I would have avoid the trap!" Kulop looks at his wound and squeezes it to ease the pain. He takes a closer look at the needle head and his eyes feels with terror as he sees the trace of poison smeared on it.

Gustas eyes the creature from a distance still treating it with suspicion, "Well, what was it doing here on the boat? Was it just someone's pet?"

Whatever poison was used for the needle, it seems to be of the slow onset type. Kulop doesn't feel anything except the pain to be expected from the needle sting. So there is a chance that if he's brought ashore quickly, he will simply be another of Brax's patients for the next few days...

Martin looks at Kulop's stricken expression and says: "Oh - that's bad, right?" He pulls a silk hankerchief from his waistcoat and with no finesse or skill at all proceeds to fashion crudely-tied tourniquet around Kulop's arm. The job is botched, but not for lack of trying (although hopefully someone else will step in to assist?) "Now, let us see if we can get you some help, then, shall we?"
Then he calls out to Geraldine: "We have a situation. Kulop is in need of medical attention, pronto. He may have been poisoned. Does the militia have any contingencies for such a situation?

Geraldine is indeed not within earshot, nor is anyone from the militia except Gustas. Vee's offer is probably the best chance Kulop's got, and Martin's quick action certainly didn't do harm.

"That's right. I fear the pain of my wounds has dulled my wits. Well, then, Gustas, perhaps, you or one of your militia associates might be willing to get him to the local healer before this turns tragic?"

He turns to Kulop and says: "Do not worry, pal, you will be fine."

"Errr... very funny Vee..." Kulop scowls at her... "Then again it is an interesting observation. I might take your offer on the way back to town." he says smiling again with mischief in his eyes. "I'm not sure I was poisoned at all. I don't feel any pain beside the piercing wound. Just make sure this creature of yours doesn't like to suck blood." Kulop says eying the creature suspiciously. "Maybe we can scan the ship quickly enough and then I'll go to check on it. Lets start with the chest." Kulop says while pulling the lead up.

"So you are fine to continue, then? Although you might suddenly keel over and die later on, yes? Super. Then let us continue."
To the group, Martin says: "Important safety tip: there are traps on board. I suggest we don't attempt to open any locked containers until we have proper support available, agreed?"

Martin looks around the room briefly, with an eye toward its dimensions relative to the rest of the ship, then says: "Shall we move to the next compartment?" before walking back out onto the deck and heading for the next door. "You know, had I been thinking more forwardishly this morning, I might have suggested bringing one of the more cooperative crewmen here for this. It might have saved us some guesswork."

[OOC] Yes, I know "forwardishly" isn't a real word. Sue me. Or him. :) [/OOC]

"Important safety tip: there are traps on board."
"You think?" Kulop rasps under his breath.
"So you are fine to continue, then?"
"Yes. If suddenly I feel bad you'll be the first to know. But lets be quick about searching the ship." Kulop adds while watching the contents of the chest.
