Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
"Haha, not so tough are you now!" Haahqae perclaims before loosing a pair of arrows at the remaining slig.

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
With the fight appearing to be well in hand, Darga feels that he'd be more likely to get in the way than to help if he were to wade into the fight with Coroccoco, Kynaston, and Bear. Still, he knows that in the heat of battle anything can happen, so he keeps his guard up in case the remaining slig somehow becomes a threat to him and his companions on his side of the pit.
(OOC: In case he needs it, his initiative for this round is 13.)

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Taking her lantern with her, Kendra moves around Darga and Haahqae and makes her way around the pit to where the dead slig is so that the others can see what they are doing with the remaining slig. She takes aim at one of the sligs in the pit with her bow, and lets an arrow fly.

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
While Bear and Coroccoco keep the last slig busy, Kendra moves past Darga and Haahqae and inches around the pit, until she's standing over the corpse of the other slig. The light of her lantern helps illuminate the whole battle, allowing Bear and Kynaston to see much better. Kendra then notices that of the two sligs in the pit, one is climbing on the shoulders of the other, trying to get out. She sets her lantern down, nocks an arrow and fires. But the arrow simply bounces off the creature's tough hide.
Darga notices the same thing, and takes a swing at the slig as it starts to climb out. But the blow is too weak to bother the slig, much less knock it back down.
Haahqae then takes aim at the slig across the pit, but he can't hit it. Kynaston is in the way. However, the slig climbing out of the pit is right in his sights, so he lets loose and hits it instead. The arrow pierces the creature's throat, and it falls back into the pit with a crash, then remains still.
Kynaston, who took a minor scratch from his opponent's spear, finishes the slig off with a chop to the torso. The audible sound of ribs cracking can be heard, and the slig drops like a sack of doorknobs.

Walking up to the edge of the pit and looking down upon the last slig, Gregeddin shouts bluntly "You there, name your master"

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Darga mutters a curse under his breath, angry that he had discounted the sligs who had fallen into the trap until almost too late. Determined to make up for his mistake, he squares his shoulders for another swing with his walking stick.
(OOC: Darga's attacking the remaining slig in the pit, hoping to at least knock it back into the pit and away from him and his companions. His initiative is 14 (10 + 4 weapon speed), and his to-hit roll is 16. Should this be enough to hit, he inflicts 3 points of damage.)

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Haahqae, is amazed that his arrows not only struck home, but actually killed enemies; plural. Trying to grasp this concept he stands around dumbfounded looking at the arrow that he still holds in his hand, "It's just like the stories say. A true hero can accomplish great things."

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
The slig hisses in defiance, but after a moment his shoulders slump in defeat. "SSSekla," he says. "Her name isss SSSekla. We follow in her footstepsss before she hasss made them. She will usher in a new era for all goblin-kin."Gregeddin wrote:"You there, name your master."
Darga readies an attack in case the last slig tries to climb out, but as his companion is dead (and thus he cannot stand on his shoulders) and the pit is too steep to climb out without aid, the slig appears to be trapped for now.

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
"Sekla?" Kendra asks, looking to the others. Sure, they now have a name, but it didn't really help them too much. "It seems like everyone worships something different now days."
Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
"If she is your prophet, when shall she arrive?"
At Kendra's remark he glances over to Coroccoco, thinking of what her elder said, perhaps some sort of sign...
Bringing his attention back to the slig, "And where is Shekla 's vessel? She has a messenger to interpret her will yes?

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
"She isss already here," the slig says. "On the third level. You cannot ssstop her. She knowsss the future and worksss to change it."
"The river must not be allowed to change course," Coroccoco mutters, remembering the words of the strange old hobgoblin cleric they met on their way here. "Of course. The river of time..."

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Kendra looks over her shoulder to Coroccoco. "Then I guess we know who we have to defeat," she says.

"Yes yes, kill the goblin. I like this plan. It's a great time to found a religion, but we can't have too much competition confusing the common folk."

Looking at his companions, Gregeddin concurs "indeed that seems the inevitable outcome "
Back to the slig, "the power of foresight is a formidable weapon, is Sekla a master of other magics too?" Gregeddin begins searching for the two knives he threw in the fight, by his count he was down to his last on his belt. He also adds "and tell us of your prophet's weaknesses"
He already had an idea to make the discussion a little more heated...

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Gregeddin retrieves his two knives and puts them back in their proper places.
"SSSekla hasss no need of magic; she controlsss the flow of the River of Time," the slig says. "She hasss no weaknesssess. You cannot beat her."
