Darga watches dubiously as Gregeddin shoulders his pack and hobbles away to collect his daggers. The man is moving well enough, but he still looks pretty beaten up. Still, if he's willing to go on, Darga isn't going to be one to tell him otherwise.

Looking over the remains of the battle, Darga sighs. "We did good enough here, I think. But I reckon we still got more of the mines to go, make sure we got all of the demons. We ready to move on?"

Kendra takes a look at the drawing, and her eyes widen a bit as the others suggest that perhaps that is the demon/s that they might be facing. "Oh no," she says shaking her head. "No one said anything about killing a five headed monster."

"If there's nothing else, we should move on," Bear says. He looks at the crude drawing of the monster. "Bah. Then we cut off each head, one by one."

(ooc: I don't think I'm encumbered because I used 3 bullets in the last battle and only found 2 afterwards = -1 bullet and -0.5 lb)

"Yuck" Haahqae quickly corks the vile liquid and places the bottle back with the rest of the items he gathered. "Remind me never to go to a kobold's bar."

"I suppose we should get a move on, demons aren't going to slay themselves now. Are they?" And he scans the room for affirmation.

In response to both Kendra and Bear, Gregeddin says "with five heads there might be enough brains in there to get a decent conversation out of it first. Then there is always plan axe."

Gregeddin moves to retriev. The fresher of the two torches. that is if they are still alight. He imagines the old one had burnt out sometim. While he was being treated. And signals that he is ready to continue.

Gregeddin retrieves the torch still lit, leaving the burned one out on the ground.

"Shall we make any adjustments to our marching order before proceeding?" asks Coroccoco. "And which path shall we take?"

Kendra picks up the lantern that she set down, and looks around. "Well, those that can see in the dark and scout ahead should do so. Plus, since you and Gregeddin are hurt, you should be somewhere in the middle of the group so we can keep you protected," she says to Coroccoco.

Bear nods. "I can take rear guard then, so Gregeddin can be in the middle. Who shall be our scouts, and which path shall we send them?"

Darga nods at Kendra's words and resumes his place at the front of the order. "One way's as good as another. How about that 'un?", he says, pointing to the passage on the left. After doing so, he goes to put his words to action and begins to carefully inspect the tunnel on the west side of the chamber.

(OOC: Darga is searching for traps. His roll of 38 isn't good enough to meet his Find/Remove Traps chance of 20%, while his roll of 1 is good enough to satisfy his 1--3 on a 1d6 chance to detect stonework traps.)

"Well, uh, it looks like we are going that way," Kendra says as she watches Darga pick a tunnel, and just go for it.

"Looks like it" Gregeddin affirms

Musing out loud "Didn't Bear say there were deeper levels of the mines? We might find the demonic source closer to the heart of the mountains. You wouldn't happen to know your way from here would you Bear?"

Darga carefully spends a few minutes looking over the western path, but finally concludes that it appears to be safe to cross--at least, as far as he can discern.

Bear shakes his head to the bard. "I never went deeper than the first level myself; I left that to the mine supervisor. He was one of the first to die. And to kobolds, too! Damnation, he'd never live it down if he weren't already dead."

The party heads down the tunnel for around 40 feet or so before reaching another branch. One branch leads further west, while another leads north...and down. There's a discernible slope even to those not well-versed in stonework.

==============

Darga attempts to search for traps [20] (1d100): 38, fail. He finds no traps.
Darga attempts to search for stonework traps/pits/deadfalls [3] (1d6): 1, pass. He finds no traps/pits/deadfalls.

"Well this looks like the way to the lower level. Does someone want to scout the rest of the western passage before we head down here? I can't imagine that kobolds would have the cunning for something to spill into us on the way down this tunnel, but their master might be devious enough..."

"Why would kobolds want this mine?" Kendra asks curiously. "Aren't they kind of a cowardly lot?"

"Presuming... possibly perhaps petty pint-sized pawn players performing platinum-dragon pageant? Potentially!" Gregeddin chimes unhelpfully.

The grin on his face is both daft and large, momentarily absolved of The worries Of the mine.
