CH 1: You All Meet in a Tavern

Dahn pulls out his last two daggers and ,if he can in the same turn, throws one of them.

In a desperate attempt of just doing anything, Ouragana throws her firebrand at the jaguar.

INIT 10, a 15 hits AC 5, doesn't it?

Sword drawn Arei approaches the Cat, the firebrand in the opposite hand, she was not used to fighting like this, normally she'd use her off hand to give her balance, a way to spin and move quicker.

"Back off Kitty, this is our prize." She growls, flashing the blade brightly, while swinging the firebrand in a wide arc. If the Cat comes for her she will strike with her blade, the shiny steel poised to attack.

As she gets closer, Val switches to her trident, holding it out in front toward the cat.

"Move along, nice kitty, keep going."

Areilon and Val move closer to the jaguar, speaking to it in the process. Meanwhile, Dahn throws a third dagger while Jocelyn slings a third stone. The latter misses, abysmally, again and begins cursing in a rather unpriest like manner. The former, however, has better luck. The dagger flies forward and cuts into the jaguar's flank. Furious, the large cat whirls around and roars.

The birdman stabs forward with his javelin, but the sudden movement and roar throws him off and he misses. Ouragana hurls her torch awkwardly, but it clatters to the jaguar's side and quickly goes out instead.

As Val has walked right up to the cat by this point, the jaguar decides to take her anger out on the half-orc first. She swipes angrily with one paw and Val just barely steps back in time to avoid getting her throat sliced open. The cat then moves in for another swipe, trips on Ouragana's fallen branch, and falls prone on the ground in an almost comical fashion.

Areilon moves 30 feet forward and holds an attack in case the jaguar approaches her.
Val moves 25 feet toward the jaguar and speaks to it again.
Dahn throws a dagger at the jaguar from behind (+2) (1d20+3): 16, hit for (1d4): 3 damage.
Jocelyn fires her sling at the jaguar from behind (+2) (1d20+2): 5, miss.
Birdman attacks the jaguar with his javelin (1d20): 4, miss.
Ouragana throws her firebrand at the jaguar (-5 for unskilled weapon use) (1d20-5): 10, miss.
Jaguar turns and attacks Val with her left claw (1d20): 10, miss. She then attacks with her right claw (1d20): 1, critical fumble! The jaguar trips and falls prone.

(OOC: Wow, I'm having some terrible rolls lately. Actions and initiative rolls for Round 4?)

Thinking for a brief moment, Arei drives her blade down at the fallen creature, the sharp steel slicing through the air.

1d10, 1d20+5, 1d8+1=[10], [9, 5], [3, 1]

Init 10, Hit AC 6 for 4 damage. (+4 added for hitting a prone foe)

Hopefully if that hits it will make it think twice about attacking.... or She is dead. :O

Last dagger in hand, and unwilling to risk losing it, Dahn decides it time to enter the fray, he rushes in as far as he can...
(ooc: seems I'm getting to the part where I need guidance. First, I'm not very familiar with the hex grid system, but I'm assuming it's the same 5 foot interval? which should mean he can get just short of half way...)

Val is loath to hurt a wild animal, but it seems to have a deathwish.

She tries to pin its head to the ground by pinning its neck in the trident.

Ouragana had been watching the jaguar and her comrades, but then remembers that their real goal is the birdman. So she looks at him, what is he doing now his attacker has turned away?

With the jaguar's attention now off of him, the birdman looks torn between continuing the fight and fleeing. He looks from the beast, to over his shoulder down the mountain trail, then back again.

Ouragana attempts to skirt the fight and approach the birdman.

Dahn moves forward, armed with his last remaining dagger. He approaches carefully, hoping to not get mauled.

Val slams her trident down at the jaguar's neck, hoping to pin it. The prongs are too close together and the cat's neck is too thick, however. The prong does not pierce the creature's neck because it moves aside at the last second, but it does scrape against the side of her head, wounding her severely.

As Ouragana skirts the jaguar battle and approaches the agitated birdman, the jaguar gets to her feet and roars with fury and pain. At the exact same time, Jocelyn lets another stone fly loose. Octhanus must have guided the stone Herself, because it soars through the air perfectly and nails the cat right between the eyes, killing it instantly. The giant cat drops like a sack of bricks and stirs no more. Jocelyn throws her arms into the air screams triumphantly.

The birdman, seeing Ouragana approaching, squawks and starts to limp away.

Jaguar stands back up and is no longer prone.
Ouragana moves 60 feet closer to the birdman, avoiding the jaguar.
Jocelyn fires her sling at the jaguar (1d20): 20, critical hit! for (2d4): 6 damage. The jaguar dies.
Birdman retreats 60 feet.
Arelion attacks the jaguar with her sabre, but it is already dead!

(OOC: Yes, each hex is five feet. Sorry, I should have said that earlier.)

Arei pulls back her blade, slicing into nothing she does a quick reverse thrust and slides the sword into its scabbard once more. "Halt!" She shouts at the Birdman, we risked our lives to protect you." Not pausing she breaks into a run, leaving the others standing, her keen eyes looking for an ambush.

Dahn returns his dagger to his caot and begins searching for his others. When he heads towards the one he flung backwards, he checks on Joycelyn."Incredibly sorry about that.You okay?"

"Damn" Val says when the cat goes down. She hustles after Arie, lopping up the path.
