CH 1: You All Meet in a Tavern

*Might as well get more information one these 'beasts'*, Dahn thinks to him self.
"Hmm, as this oughta do it." he says quietly as he grabs a copper piece.
Attempting to do so in a manner that draws as little attention as possible, Dahn flings the coin at the farmer in an attempt to get his attention.

The copper piece lands on the farmer's table, spinning about before coming to a halt after a few seconds. "What the--" the farmer says in surprise. He looks about quickly, to determine where the falling currency had come from. His eyes lock with the gnome's and he blinks twice. Picking up the coin, he says, "What's this fer?"

Across the room, Dhan beckons for the farmer to join him at his table.

Puzzled, the farmer gets up and walks over. He takes a seat across from the gnome. "Who're you?" he asks, pocketing the coin. He's a scruffy man in overalls and patched and torn pants. It's difficult to tell his age, as years working on a farm in the tropical sun has left his skin leathery and wrinkled. He wears a battered straw hat and has a rough beard on his chin.

Spooning her stew, Ouragana eyes the gnome and the farmer with interest.

"I'm someone willing to lend some assistance, where others are unavailable"
Dahn leans back in his seat and continues.
"I hear of beasts attacking your cattle, what manner of 'beasts' might they be?"

Arei watches the Farmer and the Gnome out of the corner of her eye. She looked like a Sailor? What a silly thing to say?

"Cattle?" She speaks after a few moments, leaning forwards in her chair.

"Assistance? You some kind of monster slayer?" the farmer asks. He shrugs. "Anyway, the beasties are some kind of weird birdmen. I'm serious! They got two legs and arms, like men, but are covered in feathers and have beaks, and can fly. Damned buzzards swoop in and carry off my pigs and cows in the dead of night, right under my nose."

He doesn't hear Areilon's question, as she's too far away and he's focused on talking with Dahn.

(At this point, Dahn is sitting at the table next to the bar, she almost toppled him over when she made a 'b-line' to the bar, so he may have heard it.)

(ooc: I misread and didn't realize Ouragana was in that seat, so the nearest occupied seat from the point of averted collision would be actually at the bar. 2nd seat from the bottom, putting the famer in the south seat.[sorry about the confusion])

Val is almost finished with her food, so sits back a bit and keeps her ears open.

She fishes into her purse and extracts another few silvers, setting them on the bar, again waiting for service before asking for ale. "One Ale" she says when the bartender make his rounds.

"So what was the point of bringing me to this island if all you are going to do is sit there and eat and complain about how miserable you are?" Jocelyn asks the halfling in front of her.
