Re: OOC Thread
I guess I will roll to see what I get, because now that you've posted more info, the idea of a cleric of Crizza who might or might not have djinn blood in her ancestry is enticing, too. (Should we roll on invisible castle, or can we use our own dice? I'd love to use some I've recently received from a friend.)
Luna has told me she'll love to read the game when we play, but she fears that next year especially, she will have too little time to play, because her school schedule will tighten.

Re: OOC Thread
Yes, when we roll we will definitely be using Invisible Castle.
Hmm, so Luna won't be joining us at all? If that's the case, guess I'll see about rustling us up a fourth.

Re: OOC Thread
Luna definitely doesn't want to do what Gaia has done, be all enthusiastic about a project and then not show up when it gets really started.

Re: OOC Thread
I understand. Her schooling is more important than gaming.
Nevertheless, I'll leave her name on the roster, just in case.

Re: OOC Thread
I would like to at least roll first before anything else. My concepts are extremely vague right now as I just have cleric or mariner.
Re: OOC Thread
Well...nuts. Guess we better just go ahead and roll then.
Okay, roll 3d6 six times and post the results here. Like this.
So if I were a player, my character would have 10, 13, 12, 14, 4, and 16. I would then decide how to arrange those (and ouch, a 4. Looks like I'd get a dump stat).
(This can be accomplished by choosing the "Roll Stats" thread, then choosing the second option (Roll roll the dice and assign to stats), then type '3d6' into the dice field. Then roll and post. (Don't worry too much about arranging them right now. That can be done after.)
Once you post your ability scores, we can discuss how you want to arrange them, and what race/class combo you might want.
Don't get carried away. I'm not ready to accept character sheets or bios yet. We're just doing the basic ability score rolls at the moment.

Re: OOC Thread
With an emphasis on healing, I take it?
Kind of fitting, actually.
See, Horizon's first character in the old Amtar was a human cleric of healing, named Abigail Deheune. That game took place in Octhania, too.
But here's the real kicker. Abigail has been rebooted in this game, and I've made her the high priest of the Octhanus church. In other words, Horizon will be playing a disciple of her old character.
Guess I better prep some information about the church of Octhanus.

Re: OOC Thread
So this is what I rolled:
STR 8, DEX 10, CON 10, INT 15, WIS 11, CHA 12
A very balanced character, the only modification I did was exchanging the INT and CHA scores. High charisma is required for bards and paladins only, and the rest of the stats are not good enough for either. So I'll go for the storm sorcerer. She feels very familiar with all areal phenomena, and maybe there are rumours that some generations back, there was a djinn in her bloodline, and one of her motivations in adventuring could be to find out if that was true.
So I guess you'll need to work out that school of magic

Re: OOC Thread
Awesome.
But what race are you making her? I wasn't sure if, by your comment, you wanted her to be an air genasi or just a normal race who may have been descended from one, but the planar blood is too weak to really be noticeable anymore.

Re: OOC Thread
I kind of thought to leave that to you. For all she knows, she is human, but from childhood on has felt a connection to the weather and the winds, and being a bright child, she chose to become a storm sorcerer. Some things have happened that suggest she might be more than human (at least to the other students, and the townsfolk where she grew up), but if there is something the high sorcerers could have found out, they have not told her.

Re: OOC Thread
The reason I ask is that genasi have a rather distinctive appearance that marks them as such.
From the Planewalker's Handbook
"Their elemental nature is often extremely evident. Individuals nearly always display a physical characteristic or two that reveals they are more than simply human--skin or hair color, a special aura, or some other such manifestation almost always mark them."
For air genasi, specifically, possible traits include:
* Light blue skin or hair
* A constant light wisp of a breeze about them at all times, even while indoors
* A distinctive breathy voice, with strange inflections and accents
* Flesh that is very cool to the touch
I suppose if you take the quote to its word, it does use quantifiers like 'often', 'nearly always' and 'almost always.' So I suppose it could be possible for an air genasi to look exactly human with no distinguishing marks at all.
Air genasi also get +1 to DEX and INT, but suffer a -1 to WIS and CHA. They can levitate (as the spell) once per day (this is called 'mingling with the wind'). They also get a +1 save against all air-based magic for every 5 levels of experience. This would modify your ability scores to:
STR 8, DEX 11, CON 10, INT 16, WIS 10, CHA 11
What do you think? We could just make her human and say she had (possibly) had distant genasi ancestry, but the bloodline is now so weak that it no longer shows. Or we can make her a genasi as above. Or possibly say she's a genasi, but out of luck, she looks like she's human and so doesn't realize she has any power or ability. Maybe she comes to learn about her abilities (like her levitation) over time. Another idea that might be interesting is if she kind of 'shifts' between the two. Like, she looks and acts like a normal human most of the time, but during specific circumstances (like maybe high stress, fear, anger, etc.,) her latent appearance and abilities come forth (her skin or hair changes color, the wind starts blowing fiercely around her, etc.).

Re: OOC Thread
Let's say that for the time being, the last two characteristics seem to apply (cool skin, breezy voice) so there is reason to suspect she is genasi. But is she really? I'd like to keep that a mystery to me and to the other players. After all, the changes in scores don't make so much of a difference in play at first, so you can decide for yourself (what fits the campaign better) and modify the stats privately.

Re: OOC Thread
All right. I'll label her as human for now, and we'll play it by ear then.
I better get cracking on that academy.

Re: OOC Thread
Yes, let's do that. And her name would be "Ouragana" from the Italian "uragano" for "Hurricane". She IS temperamental.
