Before Locky starts praying, Babushka asks her: "Locky, did you notice what triggered the outer doors to close?"

(ooc: I assume she gets the correct answer, including the spoon marking the tile)

While Locky is praying, Babushka goes to the inner doors to see if the gap is large enough for them to pass, including Dekker. She also checks how these doors are built, if there is a mechanism to operate them or if they are light enough in build to be pushed by the men of the party.

Checking the doors carefully, Babushka realizes she and Locky would have an easier time squeezing through the gap than the others, but it isn't impossible. The doors seem mechanical, as if opened by some kind of winch or valve, although there aren't any in this room that she can see. These doors are quite sturdy, but nowhere near as large and as heavy as the outer doors. It may be possible to force them open with enough force.

===========

In other words, to get through a straight DEX check for small creatures, like Babushka and Locky, is needed. A DEX check with a -5 penalty for man-sized creatures, like the humans and Dekker. A BB/LG check might force the doors open.

When they are ready to set out, Babushka tells the group: "With the inner doors, we have two choices. No, three, really. First, we can all try to squeeze through, including Dekker. Second, we can try to force the doors open. Third, Locky and I can go through first and look for a winch or so that operates them on the other side. What do you think?"

"I can probably squeeze through," Imani states. "But before I even try, Locky could you ask your God to heal me a little?" she asks. "Despite being use to the desert heat, it still did a number on me," she admits with a small sigh. "Also, didn't Locky say that there was some sort of creature or something beyond those doors?"

While discussing this matter, Imani sets aside of food and water for her horse so it doesn't up and die on her while she is wandering the mine.

"Me also Locky, if possible." Jerrard admits with a smile, "I will make Artemis Invisible when we leave." He adds.

"I suggest perhaps you check the doors first, although I recall something about a creature too." He says to Babuskha and Locky, he spares what food and water he can to aid Artemis also. "Locky, you can make water correct?"

"Well I didn't see anywhere to operate the doors, but then I wasn't looking! And as for the creature I think it was like a strange Pet or something." Locky says as she closes her eyes, her symbol begins to glow and she lets Paladine's power heal the pair of them.

Jerrard: Cure Moderate: 1d10+1=6 6 Hp restored.
Imani: Cure Moderate: 1d10+1=9
Cure Light: 1d8=6 15 Hp Restored

(Can I try a Healing Check on the group too? Well the three that need it anyway...)

As Locky heals up Jerrard and Imani, Thuskar asks a question. "What about lighting?" he asks. "Ulster and I made sure to bring plenty of torches after what happened last time. And Jerrard has his lantern. So which do we use, and who gets stuck carrying it?"

=============

(OOC: Sorry about that disappearance. The whole city lost power for about 15 hours.)

Locky heals Jerrard 6 HP.
Locky heals Imani 15 HP.

(No healing checks, as it's been over 9 hours since the damage was received. Sorry.)

"We will be at the front, won't we Babuskha." Locky grins, "One of you big people should carry it."

(Ooc: No biggie, and wow, all ok now?)
(ooc1: Oh, I think Jerrard, the others are fighters and he is supposed to be a mage after all! He can always put the torch/lantern down if needed.)

"I will carry a Torch." Jerrard says after a moments thought, "Could I suggest we let Locky and Babuskha go ahead, slightly in front, then the four of us stay back, Imani, Ulster, I suggest you take the lead, myself and Thuskar will guard the rear?" He looks around to see if anyone has any other suggestions.

"Then of course, there is Dekker." He strokes the Mule Gently.

Thuskar relights the torch he used earlier, and hands it to Jerrard.

Locky again easily slips through the partially closed doors, but Babushka finds the task far more daunting. Try as she might, she can't seem to get contort herself enough to get through.

"Looks like we're going to have to find a way to get these doors open," Ulster comments. If Babushka couldn't slip through, he was having doubts of the chances the rest of them would have.

Locky pokes her head back inside a moment, "I'll look around, and see what I can find." She then turns to the right this time (first hallway), checking before she does so if the strange creature is still there.

If the way is clear she enters, checking all around to see if she can see a lever or some form of button.

The invisible kender glances into the left room, but doesn't see the creature again. It must have moved on. She then starts down the first eastern hallway, finding a tunnel that leads about sixty feet before it turns to the south. She checks the hall carefully, but finds no switches, panels, or anything of the sort.

While waiting for her, Ulster attempts to squeeze through the door, but to no avail. He actually gets a bit stuck, and Thuskar has to pull him back out. "Ow, ow, ow!" he complains.

"Too many sweetrolls," Thuskar teases. Sucking in his breath, he attempts next, and manages to slip inside. Unable to see much, though, he lights a second torch and holds it aloft. "No sign of her," he reports back to the others, forgetting for a second that she's invisible, and therefore could be standing right in front of him. "Err, nevermind."

Thuskar makes a DEX-5 check (1d20): 4, pass.

Realising the switch wont be where she is heading she turns back, and tries the door instead, tapping Thurskar on the shoulder as she does so.

Startled, Thuskar swings the torch right toward Locky. It flies over her head, though. If she had been a little taller, it no doubt would have smacked into her.

Looking around wildly, Thuskar blinks in the torchlight, trying to figure out what just happened. When the doors to his right begin opening themselves, he calls out, "Err, Locky? Is that you?" He steps in after her.

Locky notices as she opens the thick wooden door with iron band reinforcements, that it has hacked wounds of being attacked by axes. Inside is a pair of large winch mechanisms, a shattered table, a dozen simple cots, and everywhere fragments of broken clay pots and wood barrels. A pair of stout, headless skeletons hang upside down from the ceiling, their bodies tied to the end of thick ropes. Beneath them, the stone is stained crimson with old blood.

"Guys, we found something," he calls to the others, then notices the headless, upside down skeletons. "Whoa...that's...disturbing."
