CH 1: The Arrival

"Yes, how do we go on from here?" After a last look at his friend to make sure he is OK again, Karathos turns to the High Table.

[Jerrard]

"I am feeling foolish to be honest." Erastlin looks to Jinali, giving her a smile and strokes her arm. "Thank you for your help." He steps forwards, then suddenly realises, perhaps he has over stepped the mark. Bowing to the Grand Master he keeps his head low.

"My Lord, I trust you are well?" He asks politely.

" no problem. It's just what you had done for me." Jinali answers Erastin.

"If I had use my spells I could have done more for him, but in this moment I havent thhought about magic at all." she mutters silent, her had schaking abut her stupidness.

Once things have been settled and the assassin's body has been removed, the knights urge everyone to return to their seats.

The Grandmaster approaches and nods to Erastin. "You may well have saved my life, son. You have my thanks for that." He looks around. "Who is this brave lad?"

Sir Delson speaks out. "He is Erastin Rivenguard of Witdel, my lord."

"Well met then," Uth Wistan says to Erastin. "Let us proceed with the ceremony."

From there, things proceed normally, at least until Erastin's name comes up.

"Erastin Rivenguard, sponsored by Sir Delson and Sir Uth Wistan!" the Grandmaster's voice booms.

It seems Erastin's chances of becoming a squire have increased significantly if the Grandmaster himself is now sponsoring him as well!

Erastlin sits astounded in his seat, he only did what anyone else would do, Galenye and Jinali acted also.

[Nuke]

The dwarf sits back a bit, hooks his thumbs in his britches and grins, and just a bit.

"Hrumph." comes out as he clears his throat.

Sir Delson approaches the table, but is alone. He quickly turns toward Erastin and gestures for him to join him. The candidate was so stunned by the proclamation, he forgot he was supposed to walk up to the table when his name was called!

Jumping to his feet, torn robes moving as he does so, Erastlin walks to join Sir Delson, his face somewhat red.

When Erastin reaches the table and turns to face the audience, he finds a number of them are now applauding him. Even a few of the knights join in.

The knight who had actually killed the assassin, Charles, is not among those who joins in. Instead, he crosses his arms and frowns slightly.

Blushing deeply Erastlin looks to Sir Delson then to Sir Charles, a little dumbfounded.

Galenye raises an eyebrow with a smile. "He looks to be on the right track to impressing these people," she says to whoever is sitting closest to her.

Karathos joins in the applause, nodding his head vigorously, wishing once more he could grin or smile like a human, of elf.

Noticing Sir Charles's reaction, Karathos looks at him closely, to remember that face well. It's good to know the ones who are potentially hostile...

Once the last of the candidates has been called, the meeting is adjourned and the high knights retire to discuss private business.

The candidates and the spectators are ushered out of the room. "You have all been assigned rooms on the second level," says a knight named Kellin Solanius. "Your sponsor can show you to these rooms. Rooms have also been set up for friends and family of the candidates, as well. The rest of the day is yours, and tomorrow the trials begin."

Once the crowds have dispersed a bit, Sir Delson makes his way to them. "Good show, Erastin. You have really stood out from the other candidates after all that. Imagine, an assassin of all things! I can only guess what kind of deranged fool would do such a thing."

Erastlin thanks Kellin, ensuring the rooms are suitable. (how many rooms? do we need to share?)

When Sir Delson arrives he still looks rather taken back with the whole situation "Thank you my Lord, I honestly acted as any would, Sir Charles should get the Praise, and without Jinali and Galenye here." He pulls the two women near. "They should recognized for the attempt."

"I have no idea who would try such a thing, now I am connected, I almost feel like I need to know. That dagger was not meant for me, yet it injured me never the less."

"I think he was trying to say something about the Knights of Takhisis," Galenye says. "It has been many years since the War of the Lance, but I suppose it is possible they are gaining strength again."
