Bit of a mad day, I posted in DL and then things went to pot, we shall both give the game the attention it deserves this evening!

Big question, would it be possible to attack the cages with the staff? Its magical, just cant imagine if its possible...

Sure, it's possible to attack the cage. Now whether a blunt weapon could possibly do any damage is another story altogether.

I'm not sure exactly where you guys are moving the cages to. I'm going to try and make a very crude map showing the room you're in.

.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.
.x._._._.x.x.x.x.x.
.x._._._.x.x.x.x.x.
.x._.x.x._._._._._. -->
.x._.x.x._.x_x.x.x.
.x._._._._._._._.x.
.x._._.g._._._.a.x.
.x._._._._._._._.x.
.x._._._._._.b._.x.
.x._._._._._._._.x.
.x._.d._._.c._._.x.
.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.

x - solid rock
a - Merithina's cage
b - Dwarf's cage
c - Empty cage
d - Ulster's cage
g - Grinder

The arrow indicates the tunnel they took to get there. The small cavern to the north is the pod chamber where the two sleeping podmen still rest.

Question, the cages? Are they a solid film, or do they have 'holes' in them, ie like a grid?

If they have holes, Jerrard will pass his bow to whoever can use it, that way they have a chance to defend themselves.

The module doesn't specify. There was some confusion on this the last time I ran it. I'm going to rule there are gaps in the cage, which allow things to pass through (like food and water). Ulster can probably use a bow.

When I created the character, I didn't realise just how powerful the Herbalism NWP really is, even without Healing as NWP. It rounded up the backstory nicely and allowed for some income... I didn't think it could be life-saving. And now comes up the second time that I need it. If I had known, I would have bought a "herbalism first aid kit" right from the start. Well, I must blame it on Babushka's poverty that she doesn't have it.

How do I wish I could lay my hands on some mandrake now to help Locky...
There's more to me than meets the eye...

Two battles at once! This would kill me in a regular game. But being play-by-post, it's not at all difficult to keep the two separated in my head.

Fun stuff! Will Locky, Shay, and Babs defeat the patrol? Will Jerrard, Thuskar, and Elvenoff be captured? The tension! The drama! I'm loving it.

Well, while I have the chance, I wanted to address you guys about something.

When Jenara first persuaded me to start up this game, I didn’t have much faith in it. I agreed as a lark and took the game to be nothing more than a minor distraction. I assumed it would quickly lose momentum, peter out, and finally shrivel up dead like any other play-by-post game I’ve ever participated in. When biggbrad and BASSsic both vanished without a trace, leaving just me and Jen…it seemed like my prediction was coming true.

But then Breila joined us, and Jerrard shortly after. And most recently, Elvenoff. The game did not die out, but seemed to pick up, in fact. As time went on, I found I was investing more and more of myself in this ‘minor distraction.’ Before long, not only was this game a success, but I would argue it’s the most successful game on Planet. (And my measurement of ‘success’ here is that it’s active and we’re all having fun—at least, I hope we’re all having fun! Surely someone would have said something by now if that were not the case!)

So instead of waiting for the game to die, I changed my plans. I was willing to see it through to the end, but once we finished (or the party TPK’d, whichever), I was going to end it there and move on to other things.

But now that we’re closer to the end of this module than the beginning, I’m not sure I want to do that anymore.

I’ve been going over the old threads of this game, starting at the beginning. I realized, in reading, how much the party has grown and changed. Shay would not shake Jerrard’s hand when they first met. He also called Locky “Kender.” Jerrard wasn’t much better, calling her things like “Madam Curiosity.” While the party was, for the most part, cooperative…there wasn’t much camaraderie between them.

My, how that has changed! Remember how worried Jerrard would get when the girls were in trouble? How flooded with relief Shay was when Locky did not suffocate at the hands of the shamble? Remember how Babushka sweetly kissed Locky’s hand while the cleric frantically worked to save her from the spider’s poison? Or how about Babushka’s Crowning Moment of Awesome when she leaped over burning logs, dodged the swinging branches of the Mad Trees, and then force-fed Shay’s own healing potion to him, saving his life in the process? (By far, still my favorite moment of this game to date.)

And in reading these old threads, I realized I do not want things to end with this module. I want to see the further adventures of these characters. What will they do next? What is the next great adventure awaiting them just over the horizon?

So I’ve ordered a new module. It hasn’t arrived in the mail yet. I’ve never tested it before, but I think it would be fun to use. It’s a desert adventure with an Arabian flavor. I figure we could set it in Khur (Dragonlance’s version of the Middle East) and continue the adventures of Locky, Babushka, Jerrard and Elvenoff there. It’s not a single dungeon crawl, like Pod-Caverns. There is some dungeon crawling involved, but it doesn’t take up the whole module, I mean. There’s more variety involved.

I’m looking even further ahead. I know the module I want to run after the desert one, too. It takes place at a small sea port. Pirates may or may not be involved.

So my question is…how do the rest of you feel about this? Do you want to continue the adventures of this intrepid, albeit unorthodox group?

If so, then assuming your character survives this adventure, you can transfer them to the next one. If they do not survive, you can roll up a new one and still join in the fun, of course. If they survive, but you want to play something else (for whatever reason), your character may retire from adventuring and you can roll up another one.

So what say you all? Are you in? Shall we continue to explore the world of Krynn even after The Pod-Caverns of the Sinister Shroom is complete? Do you want to see what new stories we can tell together?

I sure do.

But not with Shay. He sucks. If he survives, he retires. :p
