I am still in shock that Locky is alive... really I had given up her surviving.

It was more of a comment about why creatures that can't use treasure amass it!
In older adventures (which this is styled on) Creatures had treasure for no reason.

Heh, my other group had a similar discussion when we ran this module. They speculated that maybe it was all of the treasure they had accumulated from the people they kidnapped, and just tossed it in here like it was trash, not realizing it's worth.

That was really lucky. In my other group, the paladin nearly died for the same reason. He managed to get lucky enough to break free, though.

Shay, lugging the chest on his shoulder, grunts, "The beginning...of the treasure to be found? I sure hope so." He grins. "I assume you mean the beginning of this cave, though. Well, we've explored a lot, and found some strange things. But no real answers yet. Who is behind this? Who made those monsters? And what happened to those people and animals that went missing? The fact that we haven't even found any clues yet to those questions suggests to me, there's still more to go."

I read this and thought, you know, Bassic would never have written something like that, far too thoughtful for a simple thief, but what you are doing is showing he has depth. Depth shows how they grow as people.

Thanks. I don't really know BASSsic, so I can't say. After I took control of Shay, I didn't really know what to do with him. I wasn't sure if BASSsic would return or not, but as more time passed and it became clear he wasn't coming back, I slowly started adding my own touches to the character.

Lol, no neither did I!
He left before I got the chance, I think he needs some additions to his skills as a thief at next level, if we survive to next level. But I like the "you" touches, makes him more human.

You, know, this party lacks something most usual groups have: A Meat shield, big hard fighter to stand at the front and take the hits, it means we have to think differently.

Well, Shay is close to leveling (closer than anyone else, that is), so hopefully I'll have the opportunity to upgrade him a bit when that time comes.

And you're right, we are lacking a meat shield. Babushka is a warrior, but she's not a heavy hitter and has poor HP. Jerrard has a couple of levels in fighter, but not enough to count. But we make do. Actually, it's not so bad. In my other group, when we ran this module we had two warriors (a paladin and a fighter), and it seemed like a lot of the fights were a little too easy. They sliced through the final boss in two rounds, as I recall. So maybe a little challenge can be a good thing.

It's closer to real life, make do with your own skills, don't rely on someone "getting the chestnuts out of the fire", as we say in German.

Regarding Babushka's poison, a successful herbalism check will cure her. A successful healing check can diagnose just how bad the poison is, how long she has before it reaches her heart, and how much damage it will do.

Locky does not have herbalism, neither does Jerrard....

Just checking the PHB it states that "..a character with the healing proficency can attempt to aid a poisoned individual..."....
