The kender strikes the tendril that has stuck to her quickly, doing some damage. However, her hoopak then becomes stuck to the tendril, as well! Babushka attempts to distract the other plant, but its tendrils are whipping about too wildly. Shay grabs a dagger from his belt and hurls it toward the plant assaulting Locky, but the throw is off and the knife clatters to the cavern floor instead.

The first plant attempts to grab at the gnome in retaliation, but she ducks and avoids getting stuck like Locky.

However, now the second plant has affixed itself to the kender, it suddenly pulls her with considerable strength, knocking her into the nearby wall so hard, the air rushes from her lungs.

Meanwhile, Jerrard has entered the cavern and investigates the strange fungal ladder. To his surprise, he has never before seen or heard of such a species of fungus. However, it's quite clear to him it is not natural. It was grown with magic; that much is he is certain of.

Locky strikes Plant 02 for 5 damage.
Babushka attempts to push aside the tendrils of Plant 01. Misses.
Jerrard uses (what I assume is) a cantrip, approaches and attempts to identify the fungus ladder.
Shay throws a dagger at Plant 02. (1d20+1). 10. Miss.

Round 2!

Plant 01 attacks Babushka. (1d20): 4. Miss.
Plant 02 attacks Locky. (1d6). 5 damage.

(OOC: We can assume Jerrard has met with Hilda, yes.)

Babushka stands out of the reach of the first plant and, if there is time, throws her dagger to the plant holding Locky. She aims high to get to the "heart" of it and to be sure not to hit Locky if the plant pulls her upwards.
1d20=2, 1d4=2
Her next move would be to pick up Shay's dagger, if he hasn't already taken it

"Oh my! How interesting " Locky exclaims as she fights to draw breath. "Oh I wish I had some grease!"

She'll fight to draw her two daggers and hurl them at the creature 2. She's looking for the most exposed area of the creature, she wants to cast a spell but she's a little tied up!

Have to get a proper dice roller, you'll just have to trust me.

Does the creature have any "exposed" parts, something worth attacking? [/ooc]

"Interesting." He mutters turning to the "ladder"

(ooc: I shall assume that there is evidence that someone used this ladder recently, and that he can hear the commotion from the corridor. With that in mind:)

He will climb down the ladder as fast as caution (and his small light) will allow and cast Armor on himself as he follows the stream.

Once he sees what is happening he'll draw his bow.

(Ooc: The spell was indeed a Cantrip, I did forget to tell you my spell list. I shall add these to each post:

Cantrips: 4 left
1st lvl: Armor, Magic Missle
2nd lvl: Invisiblity.)

Babushka mimics Shay, tossing her own dagger. It, likewise, misses. She gets out of range of the plants' tendrils and makes a beeline for Shay's first fallen dagger.

Locky, like the others, aims for the 'head' of the plant, instead of its sticky tendrils. She quickly tosses two daggers. The first one goes overhead but the second one takes a small hunk out of the hanging plant.

The kender is obviously luckier (or a better shot) than Shay, who tosses two more daggers only to miss both times. He reaches for another, then realizes he only had three on his belt. He curses under his breath.

Meanwhile, a stranger approaches from behind the party, drawing a bow.

The first plant finds no targets within range and so merely hangs there limply. The second one, still affixed to Locky, swings the hapless kender into another wall, an experience she finds interesting but not very pleasant.

Locky hurls two daggers at Plant 02. First one misses, second one hits for 3 damage.
Jerrard casts Armor on himself. His AC is now 4 until otherwise noted.
Shay hurls two daggers at Plant 02. (1d20+1): 12. (1d20+1): 9. Both miss.

Round 3!

Plant 01 cannot act, as nobody is within range.
Plant 02 attacks Locky. (1d6): 6 damage.

Babushka throws the recovered dagger, again at the head/heart of the plants, then dives for those daggers that have fallen down. If she can get more than two, she'll hand the others to Shay.

Jerrard steps forward quickly, he can hear the sounds of a battle and sees the Kender, Gnome and Human the Cleric Mentioned.

He sees the Kender is stuck, a Cantrip comes to mind he used to use for more "personal" reasons, but its worth a try here.

Jerrard Casts "Mordenkainen's Lubrication"
(OOC: See http://www.istari.org/gnba/spells/gnsb/html/lev0.html#m makes a small area rather... well lubricated)

He'll cast it on where the Kender is stuck to the plant, hopefully that will help unstick the Kender.
Has he ever seen plants like this before, are they bigger magical versions of normal plants?

"Drat, no more daggers!"

While being bashed about by a big plant is defiately something to tell her little Kender if she ever has some, it hurts so does the only thing she can, casts cure light wounds 1d8 = 8

She may be a Kender but she has a sense of survival!

Spells:
Bonus (1 Day): Bless
1st Level: Cure Light wounds 1, Detect Evil 1, Protection from Evil 1.
2nd Level, Hold Person 1, Silence 15' Radius 1.

Babushka throws another dagger at the hanging plant ensnaring Locky, scoring a direct hit. Without even pausing to admire her handiwork, she makes a beeline toward the fallen daggers on the floor.

The red-robed stranger, muttering something strange in a spidery language, points at the kender. Suddenly, she finds her robes slick with some kind of grease. Unfortunately, this does not have any effect on the plant's adhesive tendril. He recognizes the plants as hanging snagworts, a strange and rare type of plant usually only found underground.

Bruised and battered, Locky called out for Fizban's aid, healing some of her wounds. Just as she finishes, the plant tosses her into the wall again, giving her a small bump on the noggin.

Finally, Shay remembers the knife he keeps for emergencies in his boot. Whipping it out, he hurls it at the offending plant...and misses. "Must be...bad lighting," he mutters as an excuse.

Babushka throws a dagger at Plant 02. (13): Hit. 2 damage.
Jerrard casts Mordenkainen's Lubrication on Locky. No save.
Locky casts Cure Light Wounds on herself. Restores 8 HP.
Shay throws a knife at Plant 02. (1d20+1): 9. Miss. (OOC: Seriously, this is why I never play archers. I swear to Paladine, this happens to me all of the time with projectile weapons.)

Round 4!

Plant 01 cannot act, as nobody is within range.
Plant 02 attacks Locky. (1d6): 3 damage.

With the daggers recovered, Babushka goes back into fighting position. She won't give more than a glance to the newcomer. He has shot at the plant, too, so he'll be an ally rather than a foe. Saving Locky is her first priority roght now.

If there is time, she'll throw another dagger at the plant. 1d20=3, 1d4=4
"Oh no, what's wrong with me today" she moans as she misses.

Locky looks rather downcast, "Ohhh this isn't really fun now! Does anyone know hanging snagworts? These things are really sticky!"

[ooc]Is the creature stuck to her? Or her clothes? If its just her clothes she'll try to wriggle out if she can. If not, as she's weaponless she is going to try to check the creature out, does it look like it has any 'weaknesses' ? What does she know about these creatures?[/ooc]

Reaching into her pouches she removes an item, [roll 1d100+4=40] she produces an old Apple Core.

"Oh drat!" She throws the core at the creature.

Jerrard draws his bow, aiming at the creature grabbing The Kender, he lets off two arrows.

Roll 15 Dmg 5
Roll 13 Dmg 4

(ooc: With his plant lore proficency does he know of any 'weaknesses'? Has he heard of the creature the Kender shouted about?)

Babushka and Shay each pick up two daggers, one for each hand. Meanwhile, Locky squirms about, pulling an old apple core from her pouch and chucking it at the plant to no avail. Luckily, the newcomer, Jerrard, has better aim. He fires two arrows into the snagwort. The creature shrivels up, then drops to the ground, dead. However, its sticky tendril remains stuck fast to Locky's vestments.

The other snagwort simply hangs there, waiting for someone to try and walk by. The way the plant is positioned, there's really no way to enter the next chamber without walking into range of the creature's tentacles.

Locky knows nothing of snagworts, having never encountered them before. Jerrard, on the other hand, being something of a botanist, remembers that the creatures only have one real weakness to speak of. They can easily be killed with ranged weapons, as the creatures cannot move and their tendrils only have a range of about ten feet.

Babushka picks up two fallen daggers.
Locky pulls out an old apple core from her pouches and chucks it.
Jerrard fires his bow twice. (15): Hit. 5 damage. (13) Hit. 4 damage. Hanging Snagwort 02 dies.
Shay retrieves two daggers.

Round 5!

Hanging Snagwort 01 does nothing, as nobody is within range.

She will stay Well away from the other creature.

(Would part of the plant be too sticky to place in her pouches?)
