Kybalion just look at the man and sort of shrugs and looks to the others for guidance or translation.

Heinstock opens the heavy door to the cellar which descends into darkness. He takes a sturdy board resting on the first step and props it near the wall so that it wedges against the stone ceiling. Old building. He murmurs, taking a lantern from the wall to lead the way down, Watch your step.

The creaking stairs lead down into a cold cellar carved from the rock upon which the inn stands. The air is brisk and seems unnaturally dry. The walls are not finished here, and numerous grooves and marks remain from the tools of the workmen who first built it untold years ago. The jagged surface of the walls creates tiny pockets of darkness and shadow that dance like spectres as the lights movey. The air carries a faint scent that seems familiar, but evades memory for now...

This cold stone root cellar is surprisingly dry, and the same footprint as the 20'x25' kitchen itself. It is just as packed as the kitchen above, for several large barrels line the east wall and a table filled with jars and spices sits in the center. Shelves run around most of the wall space, and several carcasses hang from hooks in the ceiling. A bin of half melted ice stands in one corner. Underneath the staircase is a wine rack filled with bottles...

If anything is lurking here, it is well hidden...

Unseen Pyros will stalk around the edges looking for space where something could be resting.

Kybalion goes around the walls using the butt end of his polearm to tap the walls trying to discover hollow sounds. He will start on his left and work his way around the cellar.

Pyros searches the various nooks and crannies between the stacks of supplies, but finds no evidence of anything hidden.

Kybalion raps the butt of his polearm against the hewn stone, but all sounds solid as a mountain.

Jerry conducts her own investigation, searching for evidence of vermin or cracks in the wall a gas cou;s pass through. Nothing... not even the whisper of a mouse. You keep fine stores, master Heinstock. Would most places I've stayed had the cleanliness and supply your facilities do.

Heinstock nods, satisfied and leads them back up.

Kybalion, “Hold.” He starts tapping on the floor searching in the same manner hoping to hear some different sounds.

Pyros freezes as if he is a cat caught in a spotlight.

Even though no one can see him.

Kybalion was satisfied enough with the basic search. “I needed to make sure we are thorough. Lead on good sir.”

Beeter leads the trio back up to the kitchen and resumes his duties. The old man working the front desk is gone, probably back to his station.

Well? Where to next? Jerry prompts Kybalion and Pyros. I'm sure there are staff rooms, or we could rejoin Haldrake upstairs searching the guest rooms. There is also the stable. Or it may not be at the inn at all... We should stick together.

Perhaps we should join Haldrake. Safety in numbers. This is a crafty shapeshifter. Kybalion remarks in response to the question .

"I will stick close. I don't need a repeat of the HyenaPeople problem. Let's see if we can get permission to the staff rooms? They are up and... I uh mean must be around here somewhere."

Kybalion looks at him. “What are ‘hyena people’? Are they like what we are chasing? This place has me baffled.”
