Re: Labyrinth OOC
How long will it take for each of our various spellcasters to prepare their spells this morning? I know that Ke'Sha's got 20+ hours worth. How much for everyone else?
Do we want to interrupt Ke'Sha when everyone else is done, or spend a second consecutive day in camp?

Nah, just that 'actions have consequences'
Re: Labyrinth OOC
With great power... comes great length of time to study spells. :/
Re: Labyrinth OOC
Its the consequence of not getting on with it already lol
Though I shouldn't laugh, that poor family.

Re: Labyrinth OOC
Lol, that's why the phb says
One would hope to minimize full overhauls of their spell listThe amount of study time needed is 10 minutes per level of the spell being memorized. Thus, a 9th-level spell (the most powerful) would require 90 minutes of careful study. Clearly, high-level spellcasters do not lightly change their memorized spells.

Also they disturbed the cave of the evil serpent spirits
Re: Labyrinth OOC
This is clearly changed in 5th edition:TristenC wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 11:31 amLol, that's why the phb saysOne would hope to minimize full overhauls of their spell listThe amount of study time needed is 10 minutes per level of the spell being memorized. Changing Your Prepared Spells. Whenever you finish a Long Rest, you can change your list of prepared spells, replacing any of the spells there with spells from your spellbook.

Re: Labyrinth OOC
Lol, yeah many things are changed in 5e like:
-not having to pick what you spend a spell slot on until you use it
-getting all your hps and spell slots back because you slept
-getting some spell slots and hps back for taking a 1 hr nap
Etc.

Re: Labyrinth OOC
Okay, so Session Zero time. A.k.a. what's in the social contract?
Tristan, what's the expected end-game for the investigation into the disappearances of the villagers? Once her investigator reaches the village, it will be obvious that it was one of us who did it. Ke'Sha's not going to be able to hide his actions (Stephen has Truthear and no reason not to aid Angel in her investigation). So what will happen then? Are we expected to side with Ke'Sha because "PCs stick together?" Will there be a big, PVP knock-down drag-out fight? Will Ke'Sha be required to cast a few Resurrection spells with a promise (or Geas?) not to do it again?
What's the unspoken (unwritten?) social contract regarding a situation like this?

Re: Labyrinth OOC
The party isn't required to investigate the villagers, the paladin can arrange all that. My take is she knows freeing Sorril and stopping whatever evil lies in the Labyrinth is probably only doable by the PCs, so they should be prioritized for that. It is really outside the scope of the intended adventure, and more of a notice of the potential for impending trouble (for certain characters at least. haha).
If it is something the party really wants to pursue personally, we can go through it fairly briefly I hope. Even so, it should be possible to prevent the camp/ paladin from obtaining absolute PROOF that the necromancers were involved.
Whether or not the PCs involve themselves in the investigation is up to you guys. Either way, it will be fairly obvious to the party once they re-enter the dungeon that the 'new acquisitions' are the missing tribal people (unless some effort is made to disguise or alter them).
I'm not going to force the PCs to act against their character or 'stick together no matter what' especially with very stark differences in their views of Good and Evil. There may be a hard conversation, and forcing Ke'Sha to agree to resurrect the tribesfolk (before or after their 'use' in the labyrinth) is up to the party to discuss with each other.
A PvP battle is really the opposite of the intent for this adventure. We (as players) can find a way to avoid that.
The social contract for this game is currently unspoken/ unwritten in this regard, so let's write it.
Bish- Ke'Sha will probably very soon learn that his 'acquisition' is in danger of discovery. What steps is he willing and able to take in order to disguise this act? What steps is he willing to take to appease the others if/when it is discovered?
Lord Torath- As a player, is there a reasonable level of disguise or alteration that would prevent Steven from digging into this to the point he discovers the ugly truth? Is discovery of it eminent, in your mind? If so, what terms would Steven accept? (resurrecting them after the adventure? returning them immediately to life and forswearing further acts?
Nocturno and Axid- How would your characters react in this situation if it is discovered Ke'Sha is responsible for such acts?
