Kybalion moves to the nearest untried structure, another house, but it proves to be locked up tight. Scanning the streets he sees no open doors nor taverns, the buildings loom almost like creatures themselves in the night. Nearby he hears the bootsteps getting cautiously closer

Kybalion steels himself and turns the direction of the approaching footsteps. Keeping his head on a swivel in case the wounded she dog returns.
