The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

Ke'Sha manages to remove the armor and examines the oddly colored stone. It looks like an ioun stone, but unclear which type

After examining the stone Ke'Sha turns back to the body and wraps it with leather bands and stash it in his sack. He notices Jack raising his brows and says, "What? Do you have something better for dinner?"
Then he mentally tells everyone, "It appears to be an ioun stone. Try to figure which type is it while you also check the armor."
"Jack, let's spend some more time to check the walls and floor for hidden doors and if none exists get back to the others."

We know we alerted those trolls, with the potential for other things coming; how long so you want me to spend searching? It would take a little over half an hour or more to clear this pit area

"All clear up here for now..." Jag shuffles his feet around a bit.

"Errr... On one hand there might be something here leading to the rest of the dungeon... after all that's what we usually do when getting to a dead end. On the other hand, that creature we found had a lot of time to check for exit, before he got to his DEAD end. So if you are all too nervous for a little action," he sneers at Jack at that, "we can skip the search for now." Ke'sha starts climbing up the rope mumbling to himself.

Just letting everyone know how long it will take and consulting the group rather than Dick-tating. he offers with a grin

Axid continues to scan the area around the hatches for any signs of movement or life. He readies his mace just in case.

With the change of decision Ke'Sha let go of the rope and turns to Jack. "There you have it. I'll stay with you while you scan the pit, to watch your back. Or use your remains if you mess up."

"Sure. Come down here and I'll give it to you." Ke'Sha answers, somewhat bored.

With the group consensus Jack searches the pit thoroughly. The nondescript and finely polished walls go fairly quickly, though he can only inspect them up to about 10 feet. The floor itself is stone work similar to the rest of the dungeon they have explored so far. No pits, portals or passages. I don't think there's anything down here. he concludes.

While waiting Jag's Mirror Images vanish, having reached their expiration.

Ke'Sha, still not gaining any social abilities, just turns away from Jack and climbs the rope. Once up, near the flipping door, he turns to help Jack climb as well. Then let Jack collect the rope and climbs the ladder. Reaching the group he drops the armor at their feet and presents the stone holding it between thumb and finger. "It would be best to identify these while we will camp for rest, but no one here wants dick-tating, so do what you want." he says rolling his eyes. "By the way, the deceased had the first symbol on the list tattooed to his arm. I'll ask him about it tomorrow. You have until tomorrow to think what you want to ask him and tell me."

Axid mentally pipes in after hearing the conversation echo up the hole, “perhaps we should ask about his first love or maybe his favorite pet as a kid. You know really show interest in who he was as a person before dying down there. Sort of get on his good side because I would think he, it, will be fairly mad at being yanked back to this side of the veil to be your ‘undying’ servant. If any of you have a haversack or bag of holding that will make bringing up the clanky items much quieter.” He then continues scanning while the group piddles around getting back up from the ‘dead’ end.

Jack and Bish return to the others, the chainmail rattling only slightly. Ke'Sha wraps the body in a waxed canvas tarp from his pack and ties it to the end of the rope to be hauled up after. The group reassembles in the room with the large snake head.

What next? Landro asks. The opening where the Trolls came from perhaps? Also, of someone could patch up these holes in my hide before we start venturing into the next unknown area I'd appreciate it.
