The Goblin sees, a finely crafted Rapier, a Beaded Necklace, a Delicate Silver Chain, with a Black Gem, and Medium Sized Shield.

Re: Untangling the Webs - Everyone
Tornak whistles in appreciation at what he sees and suggests "Let's let this lie until GG can find magic. No sense in opening the present and then getting blown to bits by a hidden trap inside the present. Well no sense other than knowing for sure there is a trap by getting blown to bits that is." Tornak settles down to wait for GG to finish his spell.
Re: Untangling the Webs - Everyone
Flatbelly flinches at Tornak's weird comment but then smiles apologetically.
Re: Untangling the Webs - Everyone
GG continues ritualising until either finished or disturbed..
Re: Untangling the Webs - Everyone
The group mills about, checking out the weapons and ancient supplies.
Once the ritual is complete, in a peak of elven chanting and lyrical mastery, GG can look around the room, and will notice a very strong aura coming from the box.
Assuming you use your action from where you are you see a huge mishmash of type of magic.

Re: Untangling the Webs - Everyone
GG goes walkabout around the room keeping his back to the recently opened box (asking the others to moves the box & contents if necessary) to get a reading on the rest of the room..
Assuming nothing turns up he then examines the items in the box one at a time, rquesting assitance to separate them out. Anything that shows up as magic gains extra scrutiny to determine the school (or schools) of magic.

Re: Untangling the Webs - Everyone
Flatbelly will help GG with the examination, passing one item a time.

(OOC: have you noticed that the words item and time have the same letters? It's a clue why examining item takes time!

Re: Untangling the Webs - Everyone
Each item in the crate is magical.
Going out on a limb and guess the group will let you examine each item.
Rapier - A mix of Abjuration and Transmutation
Beaded Necklace - Necromancy and Evocation
Silver Chain - Strong Abjuration
Shield - Evocation and Conjuration

GG smiles and says, "Dibs on the rapier," before sharing the magical detection results. He hypothesises, "The rapier may be a 'Defender' and the necklace possibly 'Prayer Beads'. I suspect the black gem and chain grants 'Proof against Poison'. The shield feels more ambiguous but may be a 'Sentinel Shield'.

Renwick scratches his head. Ye can tell what they all are just by looking at em? That's handy.
Re: Untangling the Webs - Everyone
"I've worked at this for many a year. Think of it as informed guesswork," replies GG, pleased at Renwick's approving tone. "One thing I'm saving up for, apart from a spyglass, is a pearl. Not any old pearl. Got to be a good one; worth at least a hundred gold coins. Then I can tell what this sort of thing does in very short order." He glides past the fact that he doesn't actually own Identify yet.

Broggdar
That is a fine skill to have. Must save a lot in Pearls.
He takes a look at the shield and nods his head.
You could be right. That looks like a well crafted shield.

Adrik says "the shield is mine" that's what I'm looking for."
Re: Untangling the Webs - Everyone
While inspecting the shield flipping it over reveals 5 leather loops, and something that resembles a hand crossbow, with a rigged trigger.

Sorry. You would have noticed that when inspecting the auras if handling.

Tornak pipes up "The proof against poison sounds interesting. It should help me in exploring possible delivery methods for these poisons I picked up." as he suggestively pats the flasks of poison recently acquired. With a toothy grin he adds "If no one minds that is."
