Re: Chapter 2A - A Jaunt Into The Country
When Vic suggests they explore, Isaril nods and moves to the door of the drawbridge's southern watchtower and and quietly opens the unlocked wooden door to reveal a small pile of logs, a hand axe and a ladder that leads upwards.
Some 15' or so up the ladder Val opens his trapdoor (in the more northern watchtower) and is surrounded by wooden crenelations. There's nobody in evidence but Val sees a quiver leaning in one corner and some kind of mechanism mounted on the wall behind his left shoulder.

Does Val see any windows or arrow slits?
Re: Chapter 2A - A Jaunt Into The Country
If Val climbs up the last couple of feet of ladder, through the trap door, to stand in the wooden-roofed tower room itself, he will be able to see over the battlement crenelations.

Val does as long as he sees no danger in the room.
Once in he room he wants to look into the town. Perception check: [1d20+2] = 1+2 = 3
I guess he is oblivious to the surroundings.

To Isaril: "I'll watch down here, if you want to move up."
Re: Chapter 2A - A Jaunt Into The Country
Ignoring the logs and handaxe Isaril nods to Vic and goes up the ladder of the drawbridge's southern watchtower. He disappears from view.
Val is momentarily blinded by the sun's rays reflecting from the ringing bell. Blinking, he turns away and sees that the quiver in the corner of the watchtower has arrows in it. There is some kind of winch on the wall. It is wrapped in chain.
Isaril pops into view in the other watchtower. He and Val look at each other and then gaze around the town. Isaril points and Val catches a glimpse of a short humanoid with a bright orange head stagger, arms outstretched, to disappear from view behind a cottage to the southeast (#4G).

While the two are busy up top Vic will look around the room he is in at the bottom.
Re: Chapter 2A - A Jaunt Into The Country
In the base of the drawbridge's southern watchtower Vic sees a small pile of logs, a hand axe and a ladder leading to an open trap door in the ceiling above.
There's nothing else to be seen.
======
(That's the trap door that Isaril has just climbed through.)
If examined, the hand axe seems nicely balanced: ideal for throwing.

Val will head back down and take the quiver and arrows.
Re: Chapter 2A - A Jaunt Into The Country
When Val descends, so does Isaril.
***
Val emerges from the drawbridge's northern tower at about the same time that Vic, followed by Isaril, does from the southern one.
What next?
======
Unbar has been keeping guard, so Perception skill check, please.

Re: Chapter 2A - A Jaunt Into The Country
Unbar, pleased with himself for having polished a scuff mark off his shield, looks up to see Val, Vic and Isaril looking variously at him and in a southeasterly direction.
Re: Chapter 2A - A Jaunt Into The Country
Vic walks back over to Unbar casually twirling a hand axe.
"For you good Dwarf." He will flip the axe and present the handle to him.
"Our friend spotted a small ginger haired human to the southeast. I'm going to assume a child. Could be a trap, but could also be a kid in danger."

"Let's move forward". Val signals to move to just behind 4B on the map.

Re: Chapter 2A - A Jaunt Into The Country
Unbar accepts the axe from Vic. "Fine axe. Thank you." He tucks it handle down through his belt with his other axe. When Vic mentions the child, Unbar responds "We are here. Let's be useful. You want me in front or behind?"
