CH. 15 - Before the Dawn

"Haahqae's entrance is our entrance, through these very sewers," William says to Kendra.

Gobax and Shima (Central Sewers)
When Shima comes to, he feels fatigued and kind of nauseous. Getting to his feet, he searches Nora. Aside from her mace, she also carries black robes (human sized), a medallion of faith of Takhisis, a small shield, leather armor (human sized), a sling, and 10 sling bullets. She carries no keys, valuables or paperwork of any kind.

Shima can walk, he just needs to take periodic rests as his energy level is very low.

"I can walk," replies Shima. "But what happened? Where's Magus? And where do you want to walk to?"
He appropriates (if not already done while searching) the mace, medalion, shield, sling & sling bullets.

Like i said, Magnus went invisible. I have no idea where he went after that, but from where i was standing at the time he'd have to have gone northeast or just north. Of course once i moved he could have backtracked and be anywhere. As for where we should go, i think it best not to be found near all these bodies when whoever we hear upstairs comes down. Grubnick looks west. Motioning in that direction he asks, what do you think about thag way?'

"Yes, I've been this way before. There's a way out there, so lead on," responds Shima.

When Shima attempts to take Nora's medallion of faith, there's a flash of light as pain surges through his hand, burning it badly. He passes out again.

As the two are talking, Gobax notices something odd on the eastern wall. It looks like a small outline, about the size of a hand, that somewhat resembles a panel. Before he can really register this, there is a flash of light and Shima yell out in pain.

Gobax detects new or unusual construction underground (1d8): 2, pass. He notices some recent construction on the wall.
Shima tries to take Nora's medallion of faith and suffers (2d4): 2,2 = 4 damage. Shima falls again.

As he falls again, the dwarf's shout of pain is simple, "Go!"

Grubnick curses and heals the dwarf again. Once able he draws shima to the panel and tries to use it

Tulbas tries not to draw attention yet.

Kendra looks over to Haahqae. "How did you enter the mansion without getting caught?" she asks curiously. "Magic had to be involved considering the overload of protection the prefect has on the mansion. Without magic, I don't see how it is even remotely possible. All of you will either die horribly, or be captured and die horribly."

Shima says, "Don't know what you just did but it worked; thank you." He stands again and then picks up the remainder of the things (excluding the medallion). "You go; I'll follow."

'Smart lass' Tulbas thinks to himself not surprised. He suspected for very long time that Haaque is a mage. Since the battle with the Ergothians. Even though inner voices tried to persuade him differently, he still remembered the low level illusions, the great interest and uneven interest in books, the possession of a spellbook and so forth. 'Oh well... some people like to have their small secrets...'

"Then you and the child here," William says, gesturing to Tulbas, "are in the same boat as us. You realize that, right? Even if you somehow get away, the prefect does not tolerate failure. Neither does Magnus. I imagine both of your lives are forfeit. And yet you'd still serve them?"

Gobax and Shima (Central Sewers)
Gobax uses his last healing spell to revive Shima again, then moves to press the panel. It slides in, and a doorway appears in the wall.

The two can hear noise from the previous room. It sounds like people are climbing down the ladder, into the sewers.

Lets get the #*^$ out of here. Grubnick says, moving through the door (hopefully with Shima) and closing it quietly behind. He will then follow the obvious path beyond (if there is one)

Assuming that Shima was able to collect those things (but leaving the medallion) while Grubnick moved away, opened the door and moved through it, the dwarf follows.

[Haahque]

Haahqae's never been good at retaliating to accusations that he has magic. But... if memory serves him right. Kendra already knows he has a potion of invisibility, so there's no reason to hide that from her. "Haha, simple lass. Do you not remember that I'm a hero extraordinaire and expert scout? Gnomish inventions and the ability to keep a low profile is easily enough to get into the mansion undetected for one like me!"

A slight pause, then a little quieter he continues. "You were in the shop that day when I bought a potion of invisibility from Tulbas's dad. That's where you got your magic sword from. After the trip to the mines where we cleared out the demons. There's not too many opportunities to use something like that without it feeling like a huge waste, given how expensive it is. I still have a little left."

"I've had to be quite resourceful to survive these months. It's been rather hard on me."
