Re: WotL OOC Thread IV
I didn't bother rolling the attack since he was too late. It wouldn't have mattered if he passed or failed.
Re: WotL OOC Thread IV
Not for that round but if grappled, doesn't that continue from round to round?
Re: WotL OOC Thread IV
Are you talking about the 'grab' attack from the Complete Fighter's Handbook? Or a wrestling hold from the PHB? Or the overbearing attack from the PHB?
Re: WotL OOC Thread IV
Whichever attack seemed most appropriate. I was leaving the details to you:

Re: WotL OOC Thread IV
Very well then. I'll rule he made a grab attack. With one hand (the other holding the poison cloakpin), that's a called shot (-4 to hit) and his STR score treated as 3 points less (12).
Shima has a THAC0 of 17 and Magnus has an AC of 4, so he needs a 13 or better to succeed.
He rolls a 9, which -4 equals 5, so misses.

Re: WotL OOC Thread IV
Ok, thanks for that.
Re: WotL OOC Thread IV
Just a couple points of clarification:
- I had meant to move to the square to the left of Pen, aka the corner, not the one to the right of him. That way I would have an unobstructed view of Yvette and Burzan
- As far as I can see; Haaqhae should have 1d20+2 to hit, not 1d20-2 like you rolled. Not that it matters much; having rolled a 2, but the difference between 55% chance to hit and 75% chance to hit is significant.
- It appears that Haahqae's name isn't bolded, while everyone else's is.

Sorry, I've had less than 8 non-consecutive hours of sleep in the past 48 hours.
All errors listed have been fixed now.

Re: CH. 15 - Before the Dawn
(OOC: How many rounds from now Tulbas will be held? 8? 7? No one has dispel magic??)
Re: WotL OOC Thread IV
Eight rounds, and nobody on your side has Dispel Magic, no.
Re: WotL OOC Thread IV
I will settle for William freeing Tulbas as good gesture
Tulbas uses the time to rethink his actions in the past few in game month and out of game years...
I really didn't mean it to go THAT way. Brothers to arms killing brothers and such...
*edit* at least while held Tulbas can't cause more damage.

Re: WotL OOC Thread IV
With Magnus out of the room and Tulbas being held; is there any chance that Haahqae could cast a "scare" spell and mask it as an attempt to intimidate his foes?
I'm thinking of a more extreme version of the banter he was using on Tulbas before; but aimed towards all the remaining dragonarmy in the room. I'd love to use some minor illusions for bonus special effects to make him more believable; but I'm fairly certain he wouldn't be able to do all of that in a single round (casting illusion or conjuration cantrips at the same time as the scare spell).
The components are V, S, M, where the material component is a piece of bone, so I could work that into his speach for the spell. The question is mostly if the verbal/somatic components look obviously like casting a spell.

Re: WotL OOC Thread IV
You can't cast two spells at the same time, no. But you could get away with casting a spell without being noticed. Nobody is particularly paying attention to Haahqae right now, so in the heat of battle, they likely wouldn't notice chanting or moving his hands around.
Re: WotL OOC Thread IV
Well being not noticed while I cast the spell wouldn't get the effect that I was hoping for (giving Tulbas/Kendra an extra reason to go rethink their lives); but it might still be a useful option given the current situation.
