CH. 15 - Before the Dawn

This 2E Dragonlance game is set in the city of Haven, during the War of the Lance. Haven is a city undergoing great upheaval. First massive numbers of refugees pour in, then the city is conquered by a draconic army. Can our heroes survive under this dark occupation?

"There quite a few dangers down there other than rebels. Can those dangers be avoided?" She asks.

She looks at Tulbas once they are semi alone. "Will he help us?" She asks. She decides not to comment on the mess part, mostly because she knows that. It is taking her everything to keep her composure.

"Hmm... well I assume he spent a long time there given his smell in the several times we met." Tulbas smiles, "But in any case dwarves are good underground and I believe he will aid us avoid some of the dangers at least."

==================================================
(OOC: Ahmm... JadedDM corrected me that Tulbas has no knowledge of Shima hanging in the sewers.
I'm diverting the suggestion a bit to let Chris join us on one hand, and not abuse my OOC knowledge. I hope it is acceptable.)

Gobax clenches his fists as he states at thr fallen inkeeper... another... always another and another and another.... she had to be stopped... As Shima comes near, the goblin mutters a question, What happened... what did they want?

[Did Grubnick over hear any part of the conversation from the 'occupation' agents? Meaning all of them.]

Kendra and Tulbas (Outside the High Hand Inn)
"You two coming?" asks Magnus, having noticed the two have fallen behind the group. He approaches them.

Gobax and Shima (High Hand Inn)
Shima opens the kitchen door, revealing Green Tears the innkeeper has been killed, her neck cleanly snapped. The waitress who discovered her is in shock and doesn't even notice the dwarf.

Gobax had not overheard anything from the occupation group, he had only arrived after they had gone into the kitchen.

"That's not nice," says Shima who then looks at the goblin. "What's going on?"

"Yes Master." Tulbas looks at Kendra to leave her the decision if to call for the dwarf or not and turns to go towards Magnus.

Kendra lightly taps her lips with her index finger before she turns to Magus. "The dwarf that was in the inn apparently knows his way around the sewers. It might be a good idea to...convince him to be a guide."

"They walked in. It went quiet. There was a scream. They walked out," Shima offers helpfully but illuminatingly.
"Not much to be done here, I guess," he shrugs. "Leave it to the authorities."

Kendra and Tulbas (Outside the High Hand Inn)
"Why would he know his way around the sewers?" asks Magnus. "Do you believe him to be a rebel spy?"

Grubnick grimaces. Moving to the dead woman, he lays her out more peacefully. Gently he closes her eyes, whispering a silent prayer. You and your people will be avenged... my life on it. Standing he turns and walks back into the main room. As he turns, Shima is practically beside him (I presume from previous placement). He speaks quietly to the Dwarf, You... recognize some of them don't you? Tulbas... he was with us in the Belzorite lair... and the girls... they were the thieves for which we hunted... And I suppose no one could miss the hero of haven...

,"Don't take this the wrong way, but you're very nice, special maybe, for a goblin," Shima compliments on his unconsciously racist way. "Tulbas, yes. The thives? Yes, I was exploring and clearing out ..places for someone so that we would get information on where they are to try and recover your stolen stuff. That's how I came to be cursed with bad luck. Anyway, the one who I was helping died and the other, minotaur I think he was, has disappeared. Spent the last few weeks underground or in bed. No idea about her. Why's she a hero?"

Grubnick half grins, half-sneers at the remark. Yeah, he says sardonically, I'm not exactly a typical example of goblinkind. He shakes his head, Felarn and Ne-Chanz... that was a surprise, though I didn't know them too well... wait... cursed? What do you mean, exactly?

After that portion of the conversation he turns back to the female warrior. You remember meeting Tulbas and I in the town square? You were covered in slime and gunk, and kind of out-of-it... That Gnome Haaque was there doing a show. The fire elemental showed up and she fought the thing. All of the baaz in the square couldn't do the barest injury to it, but she destroyed it herself... The whole town talked about it for... well I guess they still talk about it... That redhead that was just here... that was her.

Tulbas joins, "I don't believe so. I saw him few times exiting the Temple. Maybe he did some work for the church. In any case dwarves knows their way under ground and even that we have Raena, a second dwarf would no harm, especially that I assume he did spent time in the sewers given his smell." Tulbas says. "We don't have to trust him, but if he indeed serves the dragon queen, it would be better to keep him as he might help us."

"Well I was taking point a lot and got scratched and bitten to the extent that it was hard to continue without expiring," answers Shima. "So to try and keep helping the pair I asked the woman in the Temple if she'd mend me, you, know, with magic. She did. But when I decided not to do something that she'd asked me to do in return, she cursed me with bad luck that got worse and worse to the point where it's affecting my sleep and I'm getting headaches. It was to force me to do the something, but that brought out my stubborn streak." The dwarf shrugs, having already come to terms with things.
