I figured ;) I usually take it as a given that anyone with a bow has 1-4 spare bowstrings and any warrior with bladed weapons has a whetstone :)

Just checking.
HM is the opposite but it is reasonable to allow the retrospective buy (assuming funds available) if the rule hadn't been published (or ponted out to newbies).

In one dungeon I went through several suits of armour, a body shield couple of medium shields (found in the dungeon) and something like 8 bucklers.

I'd like to check how you run Identify..
Haven't got my books but from memory it's something like 10% +10%/level (90% max) to identify a property, 1 property per lead level, 96% or above gives a false reading. Cursed items identify as a real (false) magical.item.
I ran this as (assuming all rolls <90%): reading 1 it's a +1 dagger, reading 2 it's also +2 versus dwarves, reading 3 it's.+3 versus deep dwarves, reading 4 shows no further properties (magical).
I used the last reading to allow clever.or careful players to work out that an item was cursed as such as item would show up as a magical item but not consistently so.

Anyway, how do you work it?

Historically i just say the last one (the proposed +3 vs deep dwarves) is the last. Other than that basically the same. Not curse detection

Ornvul will re-memorize:
1st Level: Detect Magic, Identify
2nd Level: Levitate
4th Level: Stoneskin, Stoneskin

and will also swap out:
1st Level: Color Spray to be replaced with another Identify
4th Level: Improved Invisibility to be replaced with Dimension Door (maybe)
5th Level: Dismissal to be replaced with Telekinesis
Need to ask about Wall of Stone.

So 220 mins (3 hrs 40 mins of study)

What do you need to ask about Wall of stone?

Its permanent but can be dispelled.
Can the caster (of the wall) automatically dispel his own Wall?
Is that using a Dispel Magic (without having to roll a d20, i.e. autom-success) or does it require merely an act of will?

In passing, can the hour for an Identify to work be in parallel to memorizing some of the spells?

Spells can typically be dismissed by their caster with a single command word. Thus it wouldn't require a whole round, but would require them to be able to speak.

The hour for identify is time spent 'purifying the auras' of the items to be identified. It is not something you can multi-task with studying.
