Re: What do you track?

I'm too busy with life to bean-count things like that.
I typically hand-wave that stuff unless there's a specific reason to keep track of something, like expensive or rare spell components, or ammunition or other consumables when the PCs are separated from a source of resupply for an extended period.

Re: The Tavern

Wolgemut is a traveling band from Europe. I see them every year at the Pennsic War. The Green Dragon is only a medieval tavern - which is to say a tavern catering to medieval folk - one week a year, plus whenever the site is used by the SCA. Other than that, it's used by whoever is using the campgro...

Re: The Tavern

It's called The Green Dragon.
There are several videos of the place on youtube. Search "Gulf Wars Green Dragon"

Here's some video of live music in the loft - the band is called Wolgemut. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wt47eqeLlS8

Re: PC dies. What does replacement come in at??

In order to keep the game flowing, and the new PC viable, the new PC needs to come in at a level where he can survive what is being thrown at the party. After all, why would an established adventuring party want to take in some weak rookie that they need to babysit all the time? But the rest of the ...

Re: The Tavern

The menu included bread and cheese, mead, beer and wine. There's also a flat top for cooking meat, although there was nothing cooking when I was at that end of the room. In the middle of the floor - you can just barely see it in the last photo - is a big iron fire pit which has a charcoal fire burni...

The Tavern

I was at Gulf Wars two weeks ago, which is an SCA event held in Mississippi. I had a blast, but the weather was very cold. A friend and I were walking home from a bardic gathering, and we were passing one of the few permanent structures on-site, which serves food and drinks, so she said: "'Let'...

The Walking Thread - Warning, there will be spoilers

Any fans of The Walking Dead TV show here? Let's discuss. Does anyone else wonder what would have happened if, when Negan knocked at the gates of Alexandria, someone inside had just shot him in the face instead of letting him in? Negan has clearly been keeping his group under control by the force of...

Re: New spells/items/classes, how do you introduce?

In my game items come into the game in the hands of foes, or possibly on loan from a friendly NPC. I haven't really brought in many custom spells, but they'd be brought into the game in a similar fashion. Perhaps by the players hearing stories about the spell and seeking out its creator, or by findi...

Re: Predators (Yautja).. Evil or not?

Ok, from watching both predator films, Predators, and both AvP films, we see that the Predator society seems rather bound to honor and glory, but do so by seeing all else (even sentient races such as humans) as nothing more than 'prey'.. So would you say that if you were to make a Predator race for...

Re: How do you handle bringing in replacement PCs?

"Poof and appear" doesn't happen in my games. I'm all about things making sense. Finding a new PC locked up in the dungeon, with their gear conveniently stored nearby, is also a no-no. Although if the dungeon denizens the party is facing are the type to take prisoners, I might be inclined ...

Re: All around great music

I have a long road trip coming up, so I've been burning CDs for the ride (yeah, I know, "Get an iPod. But my car is old, and the stereo doesn't have an iPod jack. But I digress...) and dug out an oldie but goodie. Til Tuesday - Voices Carry There's just something about the bass line in this son...

Re: The Great Classic Rock Thread

Cool Stik, Sounds like a fun show. It as a good show. Only problem was it started 90 minutes late due to the rain, and so both acts cut their sets short. I had VIP seats - right behind the orchestra section. Not in the orchestra section, which was good, because the orchestra section was fl...
