Re: Best Wife Ever!

On the subject of awesome wives, I humbly submit an incident that took place a few weeks ago. Kath and I took a trip to New Orleans for our 20th wedding anniversary. About two weeks before the trip, she pointed out that the AirBnB we would be staying at on 4/28 did not have a TV, so I wouldn't be ab...

Preacher

I enjoyed the show Preacher in AMC, which prompted me to read the comics.
I like the comics even more.
But I've finished them, and now I'm looking for something similar to read. Any recommendations?

Re: How long from time found, to reality??

I'm thinking that the quality of the steel would not the limiting factor, but rather the skill-set of the armorer. It is no small feat to construct the pieces necessary to build the articulation joints required for a working set of plate armor. And even if you are able to produce the pieces, you sti...

Thieves' Cant - Codes

I don't know how accurate these are, but I do know that there was/is a written code used by hobos to pass messages to other hobos.
It's relevant here because of hobos can do it, why not thieves?

Re: Paladins and 'one on one' challenges?

When i initially thought this question up, i was more in thinking, that after a severe beatdown on several of the PC's, the paladin might make the challenge TO the BBEG LE guy, as a means to try and save them.. Again, this reflects an attitude of defeatism, and negotiation from a position of weakne...

With regard to our game forums being down, I got the following email from Cole earlier today:
"Gaming forums restored, sorry it took me a bit, worked 15 hours yesterday.
Enjoy and please apologize for me. No data was lost.

Implausible map?

I'm posting this because it's about a place near and dear to my heart, and also because I am a big proponent of making sure that the little details of a game world are plausible, so as to make the implausible things more believable. A game designer has offered a critique of a map for being unrealist...

I don't usually get political, but this was too good not to post.

Re: Messing up a spell, do you change it later?

As long as everyone cheats by the same rules, it's all good. If a mistake allowed the players an advantage, and you don't feel like correcting it, then the players will just have to tough it out when their opponents get that same advantage. With a mistake on how a spell works, I would tell my player...

Re: Paladins and 'one on one' challenges?

Paladins always cause trouble for players and DMs and armchair philosophers alike. My two cents (and this depends highly on circumstances): Unless there were something compelling him to parley with the the BBEG in the first place, the paladin shouldn't even be entertaining the notion of challenges a...

When I first saw Alec Baldwin as the elf from the home office I had never seen Glengarry Glen Ross.
The parody, which was funny enough on its own, is even funnier seeing it next to the original.

Re: When D&D lost its soul

In my mind, becoming a sorcerer or a ranger is something that takes years of training. You don't just arbitrarily become a ranger for a few months. You only instantly level up if the DM allows you to. Even in the older editions, there were optional rules for training. You could make the same argume...
