Re: Halloween

I can't find any substantiated claims of anyone giving out bad candy in the States, either. I even tried to google the Seattle story RPG Dinosaur mentioned, and couldn't find anything. (Also, as a kid myself, my parents never checked my candy and I never ran into any problems, nor heard of anyone el...

Re: Halloween

There's a mall not far from my place, and I think most people nowadays just take their kids there, as all the stores will give out candy. It's warmer, bad weather isn't an issue, it's well lit, etc. So probably why I don't see many or even any trick o' treaters any more these days.

Re: Maps, tiles, or theater of the minds eye?

Way, way back in the day when I still ran face-to-face games back in high school, we didn't use maps miniatures or anything like that. I guess you'd call it 'theater of the mind.' We just didn't really pay much attention to things like spell range or character movement speed. Nowadays, with my games...

Re: National Coffee Day

I actually don't like coffee, at all. The very scent of the beans makes me a bit nauseous, in fact.

Re: 42nd Anniversary of the term Jump the Shark

Fun Fact: The opposite of 'jumping the shark' (the specific point where a show's decline in quality can be easily observed as having started) is 'growing the beard' (the specific point when a show's increase in quality can be easily observed as having started). It comes from Star Trek: The Next Gene...

Re: How many 'names' the same in your group??

Now that you mention it, I did once run a game with two Travis's. But one of him preferred to go by William anyway, so it wasn't a hassle.

Re: Renaissance Fair D&D

The one I am referring to is the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire. They have it every August for three weekends.

And I saw a few people dressed up at the D&D tent. I remember a woman dressed as a tiefling, and another dressed as an elf.

Renaissance Fair D&D

There's a local Ren faire not far from where I live every summer, and I've noticed that in the past couple of years, they've had a tent set up for playing D&D. They have several tables where you can sit down, grab a character sheet and start playing (they have a DM for each table). They also sel...

She did a great job. Probably better than I could have done myself, even.

Re: So, Baldur's Gate 3 is coming...

Apparently, they are considering doing some tweaking of the ranger class in BG3 (and possibly D&D in general). I think I remember Meph complaining about the ranger class being lackluster, so that might be good news if they are fixing it.

A very silly video that tells the definitely true story of how a small Belgian studio got the license to make BG3.

Re: So, Baldur's Gate 3 is coming...

Feh. I know. It's a stupid precedent. Oh, I agree. The entire gaming industry is a mess. There are so many stories coming out recently about the horrible work conditions throughout. So I get why they would be wary about getting bad reviews. Especially for this game, of all games. It's going to have...
