Subject: AD&D2: Specialty Priests (Serpentor)

Hmm....

I was thinking, one of the better things about AD&D2 is that a DM can
define his own priests. BUT, no supplement out (especially the rotten
Complete Priest Handbook) really gives usable frameworks for doing this.
I'm interested in knowing about others' designs, and here I share a few
of my own.

Serpentor

Being fascinated with ancient egypt, and being a big Doctor Doom fan,
when I needed a "bad guy" religion I chose the priests of Set. I'm told
that such priests have been published in the new Legends and Lore, FR10
Old Empires, and in Ravenloft's Touch of Death module. I have none of
them, just some mythology books and Conan novels. (Anyone care to inform
me of the published versions?)

Deity: Set, or your own god of snakes and vengeance
Requirements: 15 Wisdom, 12 Dexterity and Intelligence
Prime requisites: All 3
Alignment: LE
Armor and Weapons: All leather armor, including studded leather and
leather scale (AC 8, 25 lbs), metal scale but no other metal armor, no
shields. Weapons include staves, daggers, bows (but not crossbows), all
one-handed swords, and spears. Serpentor are notorious for using poison.

Spells: Major access to All, Animal, Astral, Charm, Healing,
Necromantic, Protection, Divination, and Summoning. Minor access to Sun
and Creation.

Ethos: Nature is based on survival of the fittest. The weak must be
destroyed, and the strong are rightful rulers. Do not waste your time
with worry or fear; these are for weaklings. Turn your disadvantages
into advantages and you shall have power. You shall be honorable and
just, but do not give your sweat or your word indiscriminately. The end
justifies any means necessary to get what you desire. Everything you get
is of your own doing, Set is your guardian and guide. Scorn those fools
who will not stand up for themselves. Where diplomacy fails, use
trickery or force. Torture is distasteful but sometimes necessary.
Remember all that each person does to you and treat them accordingly
(Or, do unto others as they do unto you). Do not turn the other cheek;
if a man strikes you, strike him back. Love your friends and hate your
enemies with a whole heart.

Granted Powers: +2 on all saves vs. poison. Serpentor may use the wizard
spell Charm Monster as a 3rd level priest spell (in my world, priests
already have it in the Charm sphere). There are several new (and secret)
reptilian spells available such as Reptile Command (which I submitted to
the Net Spellbook a while back). At 6th level serpentor get +4 on saves
vs. poison and +2 on all saves vs Charm. Serpentor have full ability to
command undead.
